San Antonio School for Inquiry and Creativity District

It has recently been brought to our attention that Michael Moretta and Tonja Nelson (who has officially been declared to NOT be a Dr. despite what she conveyed to the SASIC district) have been influential in their time at the George Gervin Academy. It seems that the George Gervin Academy will be opening up a NEW school at the old SASIC campus on San Pedro. Now please make sure you understand this. Currently Michael Moretta is being sued by 10 former SASIC employees for fraud. A trial date will most likely be set for the spring. Tonja Nelson is being federally investigated for tax inconsistencies. These people have an intimate connection with the George Gervin Academy and its new campus. How is this being tolerated by the Texas Education Agency? What are our political officials doing about this? Can Mayor Ron Nirenberg or Diego Bernal help us? We talk about issues that seem too big to tackle but this is happening right here in our city right under our noses. Do we not want better for our children and our community? If you are reading this do your part and share this posts and reach out to someone for help. Maybe the The Rivard Report, San Antonio Current, My San Antonio from the Express-News, KSAT 12 & KSAT.com, KENS 5 & Kens5.com can look into this. #Education #CharterSchool #GeorgeGervinAcademy #GeorgeGervin #SASIC #TEA #IRS

San Antonio School for Inquiry and Creativity District

SASIC District and schools will NOT be operational this year. The Charter has been revoked, now it is time to hold all responsible parties accountable for their actions.

Our organization has just confirmed that the San Antonio School for Inquiry and Creativity school distrcit will NOT be re-opening for the 2017/2018 school year. This includes the Pre-K and Kinder Academy, Elementary School, Middle School and High School. We have confirmed this with 3 different sources including the Texas Education Agency. The TEA sent a letter to SASIC on Wednesday, August 2nd, notifying them of this. Faculty and staff were promptly told to go home and yesterday's orientation was cancelled. The exact reason as to WHY the school district will not open back up is still being confirmed but again if you have regestered your child at ANY school within the SASIC District you need to withdraw them and enroll them in a different school. This is a HUGE turn of events but we are not surprised by the TEA's latest (and hopefully final) decision to close SASIC down. We expect news outlets and SASIC to release and confirm this information soon but we wanted to give YOU the parents and children the information NOW as you are the ones who suffer the most by being kept in the dark. If you would like to confirm this information yourself please contact the TEA's Charter school division at:
