September was one for the books. 📸

We were honored to host this year’s Photo Walk in collaboration with Digital Pro Lab | Photo Lab, 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐳, and 🌹𝕮𝖆𝖗𝖒𝖊𝖓🌹, bringing together local photographers and creatives for an evening of connection, creativity, and community.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to join us, learn more about our mission, and hear about the work we’re doing through our after-school program. Seeing so many local creatives come together to share their knowledge, passion, and love for photography was truly inspiring.

More than just a photo walk, this was a reminder of the power of community and the impact we can make when we take the time to pour into the next generation of creatives. Having local photographers show up, connect, and share their experiences was an inspiration to our students and to all of us at SAPI.

We’re already looking forward to the next one. Until then, keep creating, keep connecting, and keep inspiring the next generation. 📸

Join us this Friday, October 2, from 6:30–8:30 PM at the Greenhouse for our very first Puro Community Collage Evening!

Hosted in collaboration with local collage artist Nancy Casanova, we’re inviting collage artists, creatives, and anyone from the community to come together and help create the Puro Community Collage — a collaborative piece built from the ideas, images, and contributions of our community.

Bring your creativity, exchange collage materials with others, and contribute to something we’ll create together. No collage experience needed.

We’ll also be accepting donations of vintage and old magazines and books, so if you have some collecting dust at home, bring them along!

And since it’s Friday evening, make a night of it! Stop by the Green House, create with us, and then explore everything else happening around the neighborhood and at nearby local businesses.

Celebrating culture, community, and tradition all season long! ❤️‍🔥

As we continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re excited to carry that spirit into our Puro Community Fall Fest!

This year, we’ll be honoring the traditions of Día de los Mu***os with a community altar, alongside local art, music, food, dancing, and more. From celebrating the stories and contributions of our community to honoring the people and traditions that came before us, this gathering is all about coming together and celebrating what makes our community special.

We’re incredibly grateful to Carmen Alcorta Peña of 🌹𝕮𝖆𝖗𝖒𝖊𝖓🌹 of Long Love for the impact she continues to make in our SAPI community.

Carmen has shared her work in our gallery, and pieces have found new homes through our gallery exhibitions, helping support our after-school programming and creating more opportunities for our students to learn, create, and grow through the arts. Her continued support of our young creatives means so much to us, and we’re thankful to have local artists like Carmen who believe in the power of art and community.

At SAPI, we believe in building meaningful partnerships with local creatives and allowing our students to learn from, connect with, and be inspired by artists in their own community. We’re excited to continue that connection this Saturday, when Carmen joins us for our Foto Walk in collaboration with Digital Pro Lab | Photo Lab and 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐳!

We’re excited to collaborate with Digital Pro Lab | Photo Lab and photographer 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐳 for a community Foto walk this Saturday in the beautiful area of Lavaca and Southtown!

Ruben was one of the first mentors to take part in our after-school programs, sharing his knowledge, passion, and love for photography with our students. We’re incredibly grateful for the time and encouragement he has given to our young creatives and for the impact mentors like him have on our community.

At SAPI, we believe in inspiring local youth through the arts and creating opportunities for them to learn from artists and creatives right here in their community. We’re excited to continue building those connections through photography, mentorship, and creative experiences.

Our sewing students are turning something old into something new! 🧵✨

Three of our sewing program students had the opportunity to visit their local Goodwill San Antonio and pick out pieces that they’ll be transforming and upcycling for our upcoming fashion show this December.

Over the next couple of months, our students will work on their designs, learning, creating, and bringing their own ideas to life. We’re so excited to see how they take these pieces and transform them into something completely their own.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to take our students into the community and give them hands-on experiences that inspire creativity, confidence, and self-expression.

As Ashley Sandoval, our Photography Instructor, shares, photo walks give our students the opportunity to build confidence behind the camera while also developing their communication skills as they interact with the people and community around them.

We’re excited to share a little look into our very first after-school sessions! ✨

Our students jumped right into sewing and photography, getting the chance to explore new skills, express themselves, and get creative through the arts. From creating with fabric to seeing the world through a camera lens, it was a great start to what we hope will be an inspiring semester.

For Jordan, photography is more than just taking pictures. It’s about being part of the moment. 📸

One of his favorite parts of the photography after-school program is getting the chance to photograph events and capture the people, energy, and memories that bring our community together.

Through every event, Jordan is building his skills, finding his creative voice, and discovering the joy of telling stories through his lens.
