Harini got a perfect score on the Scripps National Spelling Bee online district-level test and will be one of twenty spellers competing from Bexar, Kendall, Comal, and Kerr counties. The Brauntex Bee will be a live event with limited seating; call Brauntex Box Office at 830-627-0808 for more information about tickets. A live recording of the Bee will be broadcast on the Brauntex Theatre Website on Sunday, March 28: www.brauntex.org
Harini has been participating in spelling bees since she was in second grade at MSSA. Watching the Scripps National Spelling Bee on ESPN inspired her interest in spelling bees, and her passion for reading helped her progress. Though she competed in many spelling bees from 2016-2018, she participated in the San Antonio Express-News Regional spelling bee for the first time in her fourth grade (2018). She proudly represented MSSA and competed against various school champions (K-8) from all across the region. She placed first and won a free trip to her first Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2018. The experience at the Scripps National Spelling Bee's Bee Week excited her and meeting with fellow spellers motivated her to continue her spelling journey. She won the Regionals in 2019 as well and made it to the Nationals, where she placed T-29 as a fifth-grader. Apart from the Scripps bee, Harini participated and won trophies in multiple national and international bees including those of the North-South Foundation Spelling Bee and Canada USA International Spelling Bee. Due to the pandemic, the Scripps National Spelling Bee was canceled last year but it resumed this year with most of the competition being organized virtually. Harini has been consistently working on her spelling career putting in a few hours of dedicated work every day and as always, Harini is excited and motivated this year as she heads on to compete with some of the finest spellers in the nation.
GOOD LUCK TOMORROW HARINI!

Admitted to Yale (early action) class of 2025

Founder of a non-profit organization, Let’s Go to the Show! dedicated to bringing hope and inspiration to abused, neglected and at-risk children by providing free access to the performing arts. Let’s Go to the Show! enables every child, regardless of circumstances, to experience the beauty and magic of the performing arts and to feel that dreams are attainable. Since its inception in 2015 and prior to the start of the pandemic nearly 1000 free tickets have been provided by the organization.

Pre-professional ballet program, top 12 classical senior category Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), trained with Vaganova Academy St. Petersburg, Russia, Bolshoi Ballet Academy New York City, and Dutch National Ballet Academy Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Lexi credits the early Montessori education for all her academic success. From starting at MSSA as a half-dayer, the school instantly provided an incredibly supportive environment that also encouraged independence from a young age. Whether it was trying to get through her planner faster to have more time to read Harry Potter or write a book series with her friends about the class pet mouse, Bob, MSSA instilled a sense of personal responsibility and time management in Lexi in the best way possible: making it fun. She will forever cherish the friends and connections she left the school with, not all primary teachers would come visit their former student who’s bed-ridden and sick five years later. With so many amazing memories from the school, perhaps the greatest gift of all it gave her was a life-long love of learning and sense of intellectual curiosity.
