As part of their 2025 international immersion, the UTSA Executive MBA cohort visited the Port of Lisbon—a vital hub for global commerce located on the banks of the Tagus estuary!
Known for its strong presence in the cruise and yachting industries, the Port of Lisbon features four centrally located passenger terminals and a marina system that serves over 1,000 vessels. This immersive visit provided students with a firsthand look at international shipping operations, logistics strategy, supply chain infrastructure, and global trade regulations.
Experiences like these are at the core of the EMBA program, bridging theory with global business in action. 🤙

During the 2025 Executive MBA international immersion trip, students had the unique opportunity to visit BPI Bank, one of Portugal’s largest financial institutions and a key player in the Iberian market.
During the visit, students engaged with Pedro Palo, director of strategic marketing, and Teresa Sousa, head of the Center of Excellence for Innovation and New Business, to discuss BPI’s financial services, risk management strategies and digital transformation initiatives. The session provided insights into the evolving banking landscape, the bank’s integration with CaixaBank Group and its impact on businesses across the Iberian Peninsula.
This hands-on experience gave students an inside look at how financial institutions navigate economic shifts, embrace innovation and adapt to the challenges of a digital economy.

As part of the Executive MBA 2025 international trip, students in the Health Track had the opportunity to visit ULS São José, a key institution within Portugal’s National Health Service (SNS).
The visit included:
✅ A meet-and-greet with the ULS São José Board
✅ A presentation on Portugal’s public health system and the organization’s key initiatives
✅ A guided tour of clinical services and departments, providing firsthand insights into healthcare operations
This experience gave students a deeper understanding of global healthcare systems and the complexities of public health administration.

As part of their international immersion trip, Executive MBA students visited the Camara de Comércio e Indústria Portuguesa (CCIP) in Lisbon.
CCIP plays a key role in supporting businesses in Portugal by providing resources, networking opportunities and advocating for economic growth. Students attended an insightful presentation on the Chamber’s role, its services and how it supports trade and investment.
The visit also included discussions on the Portuguese economy, business landscape and international opportunities.
Experiences like this give our EMBA students real-world global insights that shape them into future business leaders. 🤙

In January 2025, students from the Executive MBA program embarked on an international immersion trip to Spain and Portugal.
As part of their journey, the cohort visited Central de Cervejas e Bebidas, a key player in the Heineken Group and a leading example of a multi-domestic business.
The visit included:
🔹 A behind-the-scenes look at the brewing and production processes, showcasing the craftsmanship and technology behind beer production.
🔸 An in-depth tour of the bottling and packaging lines, highlighting efficiency and quality control in preparing products for market.
🔹A stop at the Brewery Museum, where the group explored the rich history and heritage of Central de Cervejas e Bebidas as part of the Heineken Group.
This immersive experience provided insights into the operations and global strategies of a multinational business while offering a deeper understanding of the cultural and economic environment of Portugal.

Last month, members of the organizational behavior class taught by EMBA Faculty Director Albert Huang visited with the Jason Wicker and Jeff Martinez at Rackspace Technology to discuss the future of business environment and the ethical use of AI tools.
Together they learned how to better incorporate these kinds of changes into businesses.
