METC welcomed Navy Force Master Chief PatrickPaul “PaP” C. Mangaran, command senior enlisted leader for the Defense Health Agency, during a visit to Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston June 18. FORCM Mangaran met with METC leadership and toured the Army Combat Medic Specialist Training Course, Air Force Aerospace Medical Service Apprentice course, Navy Hospital Corpsman Basic course, and the Army, Navy, and Air Force Orthopedic Speciality Technician course. He also recognized a few deserving METC personnel.

Know the right actions for heat illness:
Heat Exhaustion: Move to shade, loosen uniform, and encourage sipping water. Monitor to prevent progression to heat stroke.
Heat Stroke: MEDICAL EMERGENCY. Call 911 immediately and start cooling with ice sheets.

NMTSC Sailor Named 2025 Shore-Based BMET of the Year U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Kevinjay Flores, an instructor assigned to Navy Medicine Training Support Command (NMTSC), was named the 2025 Shore-Based Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) of the Year by the U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), on June 5, 2026.

Established in 1938 by The Salvation Army in Chicago, the holiday honors the "Donut Lassies" who bravely volunteered to serve fried doughnuts to American soldiers on the front lines during World War I.
