Today melted my heart a little. 💛

One of my students created a word search by hand using the names of her and her brother (my students), my kids, and even my husband. The thoughtfulness behind it meant more than I can put into words.

These are the moments that remind me why I love what I do.

At Sweeter Than Honey Microschool, children learn through structured, nurturing academic support designed to build strong foundational skills. Families can choose from Early Learners Tutoring Groups (1.5‑hour small‑group sessions) or individualized 1‑on‑1 tutoring, available in person or online, in reading, writing, math, science, test prep, and homework support.

Today we learned about the Wampanoag people, who lived here thousands of years before the Pilgrims arrived. They built cozy, dome-shaped homes called wetus.

We also found out that the very first three-day feast had foods like fish, venison, corn, mussels, berries, and nuts. But no pumpkin pie, no green bean casserole, and not even dinner rolls!

We created our own mini wetu.

This week, we’re exploring Thanksgiving in a way that is both historically accurate and age-appropriate for young learners. Rather than the traditional inaccurate versions many of us grew up with, we focus on:

• learning about the Wampanoag people who lived here long before the Pilgrims
• understanding who the Pilgrims were and why they traveled to a new land
• discovering what the 1621 harvest gathering was really like
• celebrating today’s themes of gratitude, kindness, and family.

My goal is to help children learn the truth in a gentle way while building empathy, curiosity, and appreciation for others.

We’re so grateful for friends! 💕 Our sweet friend came all the way from California to spend a couple days at school with us. Learning, growing, and playing together is the best!
