During this Summer 2026, Aaliyah Garza participated in the UTSA-Led: Technologies in Sport and Rehabilitation in South Korea program in Seoul.

“This program was one of the best experiences I’ve had, both academically and personally. I attended lectures and campus sessions at universities around Seoul and explored labs focused on motor control, neurological conditions, biomechanics, and more, all using cutting-edge technology. I also had the opportunity to visit the National Rehabilitation Center and the Jincheon Olympic National Training Center.

As a karate athlete and instructor in San Antonio, visiting the Olympic training center was especially meaningful. It felt like one step closer to my dream of one day competing in the Olympics. Outside of academics, I enjoyed visiting the National Museum of Korea and experiencing the culture and everyday life of Seoul.

Words can’t describe how incredible this experience was. I highly recommend studying abroad and experiencing it for yourself!”

Meet Eliel Cruz Miramontes, a UTSA student who spent his summer in Gwangju, South Korea, through the Chonnam National University (CNU) International Summer School!

“This was my first time studying abroad, and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life. I met incredible people from all over the world, tried so many delicious Korean foods, explored beautiful cities and landscapes, and learned so much about Korean culture and history both inside and outside the classroom.

Beyond academics, this experience showed me how big the world truly is and encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone. I created friendships and memories that I hope will last a lifetime. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program, and I would absolutely do it again. I highly recommend studying abroad to anyone considering it—it’s an experience that can truly change your perspective on the world.”

Meet Kevin Vo, a UTSA Mechanical Engineering student who spent four weeks in France with the FLOW International Summer School at Polytech Montpellier!

“Participating in the four-week FLOW International Summer School at Polytech Montpellier was one of the most rewarding experiences of my college journey. The Sustainable Energy and Materials program allowed me to explore engineering from a global perspective while experiencing life in France.

Beyond the classroom, I gained hands-on experience designing a small rocket and mug using Onshape CAD and bringing my designs to life through 3D printing. I also learned different welding techniques, including stick and MIG welding, while gaining insight into TIG welding and its applications.

Outside of academics, I enjoyed French language classes, explored Montpellier, and traveled to places like Nîmes, Roquefort, Paris, Disneyland Paris, and the Millau Viaduct. These experiences allowed me to experience French culture while seeing how engineering, sustainability, and history come together.

This program strengthened my confidence, expanded my worldview, and reinforced my passion for sustainable engineering and learning from different cultures. I’m incredibly grateful to UTSA, Polytech Montpellier, and everyone who made this opportunity possible. It’s an experience I will always remember.”

Meet Jordan Turner, a UTSA student who spent her summer in Germany with the Germany Klesse Experiential Learning program!

“During my time in Germany, I had the opportunity to explore different areas of chemical engineering while also gaining a deeper understanding of engineering as a whole. What made this experience truly unforgettable was being immersed in a different culture and learning from people with backgrounds and perspectives different from my own. Seeing how engineers in another country approach problem-solving and innovation showed me that there are many ways to think creatively and develop effective solutions.

Outside of academics, I gained a greater appreciation for different customs, traditions, and everyday life. This experience helped me become more open-minded, adaptable, and confident, while also growing both personally and professionally. It expanded my academic knowledge, broadened my perspective, and changed the way I see the world. It is an experience I will always value.”

“I was able to explore so many different areas of Seoul and learn more about a place I had only seen in K-dramas and K-pop videos. Learning about Korean culture in a classroom is one thing, but experiencing it firsthand is something completely different. This is an experience I’ll remember forever, and I’m so thankful to the teams at UTSA and Hanyang University for making it possible.”

Meet Bethany Hooper, a UTSA student who spent part of her summer studying abroad in Germany through the IREP program!

My favorite part of my experience in Germany was the lab where I had the opportunity to conduct research. Everyone was so welcoming and supportive, and I met so many like-minded people from Germany and around the world.

“My absolute favorite part of the summer was traveling with other students in the IREP program. We visited places like Munich and Paris, and every trip was filled with fun and unexpected moments—from walking tours through the city to simply enjoying each other’s company at places like the Eiffel Tower. These experiences and the people I shared them with are memories I’ll always cherish!”

During this Summer 2026, this Hannah Juarez participated in the UTSA-Led: 2026 Summer Language and Culture in South Korea program.

“As a first-generation Latina, it was amazing to have the opportunity to fully immerse myself in Korean culture. As a Korean minor, studying abroad helped me connect with the language in a whole new way. I visited cultural sites, learned about Korean history, and explored museums like Dongdaemun Design Plaza and the National Museum of Korea. As an art student, I loved seeing how technology, design, and nature come together throughout Seoul.

This experience inspired me to create more art, connect with people from around the world, and explore new opportunities through the Korean language. My goal is to one day have my own art business in Korea and collaborate with artists from around the world.”

“The Panama trip was more than a study abroad opportunity. It was a healing journey that allowed me to return to my home country as a student and learn more about where I came from. I experienced the traditions, food, culture, and connections between people, and gained a new perspective on life. Going as a student was one of the best decisions I could have made, and I’m grateful to UTSA, my professor, and my family for making it possible. If anyone is thinking about studying abroad, DO IT.
