Over 100 SAISD G/T families joined us during their lunch breaks on Wednesday to connect, learn, and gear up for an unforgettable year ahead. 💡✨
Our GATE Director, Dr. Cynthia Martinez, shared an exclusive look at all the innovative programs, enriching projects, and big plans we have in store for our students. We are bursting with excitement for everything coming down the pipeline!

💡 Great learning starts with intentional planning!

Our GT Instructional Specialists are reflecting on August’s professional learning and using those insights to design meaningful learning experiences for teachers in September and October.

🎯 Our goal: Create engaging professional learning that gives educators the knowledge and strategies to support gifted learners.

🌱 Why does this matter? Teachers are the first line of support for gifted scholars. Strengthening their practice strengthens the continuum of services and creates more opportunities for scholars to thrive.

The San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists Association (SAAHJ) Teen Team program, a partnership with the San Antonio Express News and San Antonio College, is a mentorship program that allows high school juniors and seniors in the San Antonio area to learn about the journalism industry. The program has two primary components: class meetings and mentorship. You can read more about it here: https://sahispanicjournalists.com/saahj-teen-team/.

The program runs from September 2026 through May 2027. To be eligible, applicants must be current juniors and seniors. Students don’t need any journalism experience in order to apply. Application deadline: Sept. 4, 2026.

Our Gifted and Talented team had a great day of learning together during our Teaching & Learning Division meeting. We dug into our data, reflected on academic outcomes, and discussed how we can work together to support our scholars and campuses.

I’m grateful for a team that is willing to be all in, brings passion and expertise to this work, and is committed to improving outcomes for our scholars. I’m looking forward to the work ahead and all we will accomplish together.
