STEM is everywhere — and the careers that build our world start with curiosity.
The apps on your phone📱, the shoes 👟you wear, the videos you watch 📺, and the technology doctors use all exist because of people working in STEM careers like engineering, coding, healthcare, robotics, design, and research.

At Step Into STEM, you get to explore these careers through hands-on activities and see how your creativity, problem-solving, and ideas can turn into real opportunities for the future.

Today’s workshop could spark tomorrow’s career!

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who served our country.

Did you know STEM careers have long played an important role in supporting service members and keeping people safe? From doctors and engineers to cybersecurity experts, pilots, and scientists, STEM helps solve real-world challenges every day.

As we remember those who made sacrifices for others, we also recognize the people who used innovation, technology, and teamwork to build a better future.

Before TikTok, video games, and smartphones, there was ENIAC.

ENIAC — the world’s first programmable electronic computer — was built in the 1940s at the University of Pennsylvania for the U.S. Army. It was HUGE — taking up an entire room and weighing 27 tons.

Today, the phone in your pocket is way more powerful than ENIAC ever was.

Why does that matter? Because people had to imagine, build, test, and improve technology to get us where we are now. That work led to careers in coding, robotics, engineering, gaming, healthcare technology, cybersecurity, and more.

The future of technology won’t be built by computers alone — it’ll be built by students willing to explore STEM. Maybe even you!

Meet the Scientist!
Alice Ball was an American chemist who created the first effective treatment for Hansen’s disease (leprosy)—before the age of 24. Her work is proof that curiosity 🤔 and determination can lead to discoveries that change the world 🌎.

In 1903, French chemist Édouard Bénédictus accidentally invented safety glass 🥽when he dropped a glass flask coated with dried cellulose nitrate, which cracked but did not shatter. Today, that same idea helps keep people safe in car windshields 🚘, buildings 🏢, and more!

✨ May the 4th be with you! ✨

Lightsabers. Droids. Hyperspace.
What if those weren’t just sci-fi… but future careers? 👀

The world of Star Wars is powered by real STEM skills—engineering, robotics, coding, and problem-solving.

At Step Into STEM, you don’t need the Force to start building your own future—you just need curiosity and a willingness to try. 🛠️

So… if you could build anything from Star Wars, what would it be? 🚀
