This year’s conference, TexLER 2024, is dedicated to challenging colonial legacies in language and literacy education. We aim to promote anti-colonial practices, integrate Indigenous languages, and center minoritized languages in educational contexts. Our conference will explore translanguaging for multilingual learners, highlight the impact of AI on language education, and introduce innovative tools for inclusive and accessible language learning. Recognizing artistic and cultural expressions, we will foster community-based methodologies, confront linguistic violence, and advocate for inclusive language policies within education and community projects. Presentation spaces will be provided for youth and community members to also share their perspectives at this year’s conference. This includes community leaders, advocates, high school students, undergrad & graduate students, teachers & professors of all levels, artists, poets, etc. Our goal is to promote humanized research practices, fostering a global dialogue on decolonizing, humanizing, and innovating language and literacy education, and building a coalition committed to linguistic justice and empowerment.
