Honors Program at A&M-San Antonio

Student Spotlight: Ruben Reyes has made the most of his time at A&M-San Antonio, from serving as a Jaguar Ambassador to performing with Mariachi Los Jaguares del Sur. Jahatzy Ramos, a second-year Honors student and Biology major, has been named as a Junior Board Member to the Volunteer Services Council of the San Antonio State Hospital for the 2023-24 academic year. Opened in 1892, the hospital provides in-patient psychiatric services in south San Antonio and is set to open a brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital in January 2024. In her role as a Junior Board member, Jahatzy will develop her leadership skills while engaging in board meetings and volunteer hours and assisting with fundraising projects.

Congratulations to Jahatzy on this accomplishment!

First year Honors Seminar students in the Sculpting Ecology class working on their basket weaving projects. The finished works will be displayed at the SA Botanical Gardens. Kudos to instructors Justin Korver (Fine Arts) and Megan Wise de Valdez (Biology) for designing this course!

The year has come to an end! Last Wednesday, we had our first banquet for the inaugural cohort of honors students and it’s safe to say, it was a success!
Thank you to all the staff, and students that made this year possible. Without you all, our program would not be thriving the way it is today. We hit a lot of obstacles to get where we are but nonetheless, we prevailed and set a strong foundation for years to come
The future is bright and we cannot wait to see what’s next!
