Jahatzy Ramos, a second-year Honors student and Biology major, has been named as a Junior Board Member to the Volunteer Services Council of the San Antonio State Hospital for the 2023-24 academic year. Opened in 1892, the hospital provides in-patient psychiatric services in south San Antonio and is set to open a brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital in January 2024. In her role as a Junior Board member, Jahatzy will develop her leadership skills while engaging in board meetings and volunteer hours and assisting with fundraising projects.

Congratulations to Jahatzy on this accomplishment!

The year has come to an end! Last Wednesday, we had our first banquet for the inaugural cohort of honors students and it’s safe to say, it was a success!
Thank you to all the staff, and students that made this year possible. Without you all, our program would not be thriving the way it is today. We hit a lot of obstacles to get where we are but nonetheless, we prevailed and set a strong foundation for years to come
The future is bright and we cannot wait to see what’s next!

A late post! A couple weeks ago, a group of students in our honors program met with our interim President, Dr. Schott, and gave some insight as to what our program is. Thank you to all the students who were able to make it and represent our program!🐾
