End of Summer Activities!
☀️🌸

We have been soaking up our last bit of summer before school starts next week! 📚

I asked each of the children what they would like to learn about, and last week we did a little micro-unit on each of their chosen topics. I love giving them the opportunity to follow their own interests and curiosity! ❤️

🐰 Sloane: Bunnies
🐮 Mia: Cows
🦄 Anastasia: Unicorns
🐴 Marris: Horses

It was a fun week of learning, exploring, creating, and following their interests! 🥰

And just like that… summer is almost over and a new school year is about to begin!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT:
We have 2 new readers!

Anastasia and Sloane are becoming such confident little readers!
Both are now reading little reader books a bit more fluently and are beginning to recognize some sight words. When they come to a word they don’t know, they are learning to slow down, sound it out, and work through it rather than relying on the pictures or guessing. We are also working on using expression and inflection in our voice to make reading sound more natural.

One of the things I’m most proud of is their perseverance. Sometimes they get frustrated when they don’t get a word right away, but they are learning to work through that frustration and keep trying. They are so excited about being able to read, and it’s wonderful to watch there confidence and love of reading grow!

SPACE CAMP: SATURN
Saturn is so cool! I personally think it looks like a disco ball (hint the music 😉).
Saturn….
* is an outer, gas planet
* it has 7 rings made of rock and ice
* its atmosphere is very windy
* has 274 moons
* if we put Saturn in the ocean, it would float bc it’s lighter than water
