Three UIW students will receive scholarships this fall from the San Antonio Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

The students, all majoring in communication arts with a multimedia-journalism concentration, are Zoe Del Rosario, Justin Kraiza and Abigail Velez.

UIW was the only regional school with more than one scholarship winner in the SPJ competition.

The 3D Animation & Game Design Department would like to congratulate Joshua McMullen for earning his first video game credit for his contributions on Sony MLB The Show 21. Joshua is a current Senior at UIW who interned with Sony San Diego last summer.

He did such a great job that he will be returning to work with them upon graduation. The game can be found at: bit.ly/3b3cX7t.

The School of Media & Design would like to congratulate Ariana Gomez and Rina Hernandez on their achievement awards.

Ariana Gomez was awarded the Amy Freeman Lee Scholarship Achievement & Service Recognition Award.

This award has been presented since 1978 and recognizes students whose academic performance demonstrates a love of learning and whose outstanding service to the community evidences an ethic of life-long service.

Rina Hernandez was award the St. Catherine Medal for Student Achievement. The award is based on leadership and service to the college and honors a student who represents the high ideals of a Catholic college education.

Professor Andy Hill was the recipient of the 2021 Teaching Excellence Award for Philosophy and Professor Trey Guinn was the recipient of the Fulbright Award!

The School of Media & Design would like to wish students the best of luck on finals.

The top two editors of the Logos shared first-place honors for column-writing in the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association’s annual competition.

Logos Editor Ruby Filoteo and Assistant Editor Justin Kraiza received the honors, respectively, for columns entered in TIPA’s Division 5 competition where most of the state’s college papers compete as the majority are non-daily or non-weekly publications.
