Happy Feast Day to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini!

Today, the Mother Cabrini Center hosted the 4th Annual Vocation Awareness Day. Nine Catholic Schools which included 170 7th graders in the Catholic Schools - Archdiocese of San Antonio .Rev. Ricardo Ramirez, priest from St. James Catholic Church & School, was our guest speaker who shared with students to "pray for what Jesus is calling you to do." Sr. Shobha shared her faith journey and her experience as a participant in the Mother Cabrini Program. The Mount Sacred Heart School Official 2nd & 3rd grade students reenacted the life of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini to celebrate her feast day! The 7th grade students participated in a Q&A session with a panel consisting of a priest, deacon, seminarian, brother, sister & a married couple. The event ended with a social and a ministry fair! It was a WONDERFUL event!

The Mother Cabrini Center held its first "Sister Social" of the school year. A few mentors joined in on the fun. They enjoyed a delicious Apple Bar, made an Apple Garland, enjoyed an Apple Game and learned about Anchor Charts from DCS Academic Coordinator, Melissa Byrd. We had an Apple-solutely great time! 🍎🍏

The MCC Sisters attended the "Sofia Institute for Teachers" sponsored by Catholic Schools - Archdiocese of San Antonio. The MCC Sisters enjoyed the training and are ready to return to Catholic School classrooms to deliver lessons rooted in the catechesis of the Gospel. The trainers, Mark Kaschak & Sr. Mary Anne Zuberbueler, OP were dynamic! Thank you for your expertise and wisdom!

PHASE II MCC SISTERS ARE SETTLING IN AT THEIR NEW ASSIGNED CAMPUSES! Sr. Fastrina is at St Pius X Catholic School and Sr. Sowmya is at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School! They both have very supportive teams! We are looking forward to great teaching & learning!

The "up to 5 years" teachers attended professional development at Antonian H.S. delivered by the academic team from the Department of Catholic Schools - Archdiocese of San Antonio. The activities were purposeful and interactive! We shared meaningful conversation on a variety of topics. We are all SO EXCITED for the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!! (Thank you, DCS team!)👩‍🎨🍎✂️

Message from Fr Johnson to the community: Parents and Students with special guest appearance from Princeton!

MCC began the kick off to their school year with Convocation 2025!! The mass was presided by Archbishop Gustavo and co-presided by many school priests and both Bishops Mike & Gary. Dr. West shared wonderful words and well wishes for a new school year! It was nice seeing our MCC Sisters wearing colors of the schools they are assigned to! We will have sisters at five different Catholic Schools this year! It us truly a blessing!!!

📚Please join me in giving a heartfelt StG welcome to Sr. Josna Kujur, our new 2nd grade homeroom teacher!

Originally from India, Sr. Josna has been a religious sister for 13 years and belongs to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Saint-Marc (SJSM). She brings with her 7 years of teaching experience in 1st–7th grade English Language Arts and holds degrees in English and Education.

Her areas of expertise include ELA, Writing, and Religion, and she has a special passion for working with 1st–3rd grade students. Sr. Josna believes that “Every child is special, just like stars in the sky!” 🌟

In addition to her love of teaching, Sr. Josna enjoys art, reading, and singing. Her favorite verse in the Bible is:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” – Jeremiah 31:3

We are so blessed to have her as part of the St. Gregory community! 💚📖

Today MCC invited teacher mentors, Phase II & III Sisters and school principals of cooperating schools for an overview of the MCC Program. We are excited to announce that we have four Catholic Schools participating in the MCC Program for the 2025-2026 school year; Mount Sacred Heart School Official, Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, St Pius X Catholic School & St. Matthew Catholic School.

So if you are keeping score, here are the numbers: 2 sisters graduated last year and are now elementary classroom teachers in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. 1 sister will begin in Phase III & 3 sisters will begin Phase II. We have two Phase I sisters on the way!! All Glory to God! 🎚

WOW! It was a GREAT two days of "Activities of Daily Living" training as part of Ministerial Orientation for newly arrived religious to the U.S. in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.🎚Nora Mozingo, director of the Mother Cabrini Center, was the trainer for the two days. The priests & sisters really enjoyed the activities that surrounded each topic. Eight countries were represented so the duscussions were meaningful and diverse.
