May our lives reflect Him. 🤍

Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.

As our students grow in their faith, our prayer is that the fruit of the Spirit would be evident not only in what they know, but in how they live, serve, encourage, and care for one another.

May we be a community that looks more like Christ each day.

It’s all about Him.

Our first chapel of the year set the tone for what our students will be studying throughout the school year: from Creation, to Calvary, to Glory, it’s all about Him.

From student-led worship to our Spiritual Life Pillar Presidents sharing alongside Pastor Matt O’Brien, we began the year by turning our attention to the One at the center of it all.

As we walk through God’s story together this year, our prayer is that our students will see more clearly who Christ is, what He has done, and how every part of the story points back to Him.

From Creation. To Calvary. To Glory. It’s all about Him.

This week, we are celebrating Band Director Mr. David Eskridge, who was named St. Mary's University Conductor of the Year in 2026 for his outstanding leadership and excellence in music education.

This recognition reflects Mr. Eskridge's commitment to developing student musicians and building a culture of excellence within the SACS band program. Under his direction, SACS ensembles have earned numerous first-place finishes at competitions, including five consecutive victories at St. Mary's University Band Festival and Palo Alto College Band Festival, across multiple divisions and grade levels.

These accomplishments represent more than awards. They reflect the dedication, teamwork, discipline, and perseverance students develop through the process of creating music at a high level. Mr. Eskridge challenges students to grow as musicians while helping them build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Through his leadership, students experience the transformative power of music education and the rewards of pursuing excellence.

Our first Friday of the school year was booked and busy! 🎉 From Fields of Faith to the Elementary Back-to-School Picnic and our season-opening football scrimmage, it was great to see everyone back on campus!

It was the perfect way to kick off the new school year as our students, families, staff, and community joined together for a night full of fun, fellowship, and school spirit. From meaningful moments at Fields of Faith to smiles and laughter at the picnic, and plenty of excitement under the Friday night lights, we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the year! 🏈

We’re excited for all God has in store and pray that this year will be filled with opportunities to learn, grow, serve, and shine His light.

A new school year gives us an opportunity to start fresh. New classes, new routines, new friendships, new goals, and a new year ahead of us.

A fresh start also gives us the chance to leave the past where it belongs. The mistakes, disappointments, and things we wish we could have done differently are behind us. We don’t have to carry them into what comes next.

As 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, there is something beautiful about being made new in Christ. A new school year may bring a new schedule and new opportunities, but the greatest fresh start begins by knowing who we are in Him.

As we step into this year, may we move forward with purpose, pointing to Him, grateful for what’s behind us and ready for what’s ahead.

Mrs. Claudette Nichols recently presented at the World Music in the Classroom Summit, an event designed to help educators bring authentic, culturally responsive global music into their classrooms. She was selected as a presenter in recognition of her work in Tejano music education, an area where her expertise and passion have made a meaningful difference.

During her session, Mrs. Nichols provided an authentic perspective on Tejano music, sharing the rich history and cultural significance of Tejano music while equipping fellow educators with ready-to-use resources.

Following the summit, Mrs. Nichols was approached by the founder of the World Music Foundation to explore future collaboration and the exchange of global musical ideas. In addition, she is currently developing a children’s book series entitled Tejano Tales.

Her presentation not only highlights her individual excellence, but also the strength and quality of teaching at SACS. Her work gives her students the chance to learn the history behind Tejano music, explore traditional songs and instruments, and understand how music connects to family, heritage, and community. The resources and connections she brings back to SACS also give our students new ways to experience and celebrate music from their own culture and cultures around the world. Wonderful work, Mrs. Nichols!

We are excited to partner with FLIK Hospitality as our school dining partner this year! 🍽️🦁

We’ve already had a great start to the year in the elementary school, with pulled pork sliders, penne pasta, chicken tenders and Texas BBQ making their way onto the menu.

And we’re just getting started. If you haven’t checked out what’s being served, Monday is a great place to start.

On the menu: Philly cheesesteaks, with secondary students also having the option of Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, cilantro lime chicken bowls, and more.

We’re looking forward to more variety and plenty of choices for our students and faculty throughout the year. See the Weekly ROAR for the daily menu.

Monday’s looking pretty good! 👀

It’s our secondary students’ turn today!

Our middle and high school students were welcomed back to campus by teachers and staff before heading into their first assemblies of the year. With prayer led by their presidents and principals, students got the chance to reconnect, hear from school leadership, and start the year together.

For our seniors, the morning also included Senior Sunrise, a special tradition for the Class of 2027 to mark the beginning of their final year at SACS.

A new school year brings many new goals: making new friends, improving in the classroom, making the team, taking on a leadership role, or growing in our relationship with Christ. But as we begin the 2026-2027 school year, we're reminded that through it all, it’s all about Him. In the classroom, on the field, in friendships, and in all the joyful and stressful moments in between, our goal is that everything we do points back to Christ.

We’re glad to have our secondary Lions back on campus and excited for the year ahead. 🦁

Today was all about our littlest Lions. 🦁❤️

From the moment they arrived, our students were surrounded by plenty of encouragement. Some of our amazing high school athletes were at the gate to welcome them in, and before heading off to their classrooms, our elementary students and parents gathered together for a word of prayer.

The first day always comes with a little bit of everything: excited smiles, nervous faces, parents squeezing in one more hug and kiss goodbye, and students taking those first steps into a new school year. Our first day of school opens with a reminder that before all of the crazy schedules, the assignments, the new routines, and everything else that comes with a school year, we should always begin with prayer.

We’re grateful for our SACS community and for the families who trust us with their students. Here’s to a great year for our elementary Lions.

And secondary students… we’ll see you tomorrow.
