Dyslexia and fatigue are connected.
When word reading is not automatic, the brain has to work harder to decode every word. That extra cognitive effort reduces stamina over time.
What may look like inattention, avoidance, or zoning out is often cognitive overload.
This is why explicit, structured literacy instruction matters. When word recognition becomes more automatic, it reduces the mental load and frees the brain for comprehension and learning.

While we work on your child's reading skills, we can still implement ways to access comprehension and writing, so when the skills improv,e they all come together at a high level. Accommodations support students accessing curriculum at their level of thinking despite what learning challenges they face.
Let's talk abotu how I can help your child. Limited evening spots available.
Learning doesn’t stop while reading skills develop. 🏗️ 📚
Students still need access to grade-level content across all subjects, even as they build reading skills with their teachers.
Learning Ally’s Audiobook Solution provides access to 75,000+ human-read audiobooks, including textbooks, picture books, and novels, so learning can continue every day.

Reading may be the source of the problem, but there is so much more.I may tutor in reading, but I am all about self-efficacy and advocacy. Students need to know they have brilliant ideas and can learn. They just may need to have something a little different. (We all do!) Let's learn what they need and teach them how to ask for it, so they can achieve.
Limited evening openings available. Let's get started!

Just found out one of my students made 200% growth on his MAP test for 3rd grade so far! We are about 2 years in, working an hour a week during the school year, and he has come so far - from not having all his letter sounds and unable to blend a word independently at the end of 1st, to nearly being on grade level on all metrics.

I love getting feedback from my students. An insightful middle schooler I tutor in writing told me, "You're good at balancing the good comments with the bad. I still get to learn what I need to improve on, but you also help me see my strengths."
Every child has strengths we need to bring out and help them recognize and build on. Self-efficacy and confidence are part of any learning process.
