Woodlake Hills Principal Dan Brooks truly understands One Home, One Family

Especially after the pandemic, any teacher would tell you that nothing may shock them anymore. They are just built differently - schools are microcosms of our community or even society as a whole, and all educators learn to duck, weave, adjust, and propel forward, with the ultimate goal being to educate our students in a safe and secure environment.

A graduate of Barber–Scotia College and veteran of the Air Force, Principal Dan Brooks looks at his campus as just that - a microcosm of the community. Even with the ups and downs that come from running a large campus, it’s simple things that inspire him to love his job more and more every day.

“My favorite part of being a principal are the kids - this community,” Brooks said. “Having conversations with kids when they are just… genuinely talking to you, when they're not in trouble or when it's not a disciplinary conversation. It's just a conversation about... whatever. I love it when kids come up to me and ask me, ‘Do I like being a principal? How did I become a principal? You know, Mr. Brooks, you wear suits a lot.’ Those conversations, those are what I enjoy about this job - is seeing kids being kids.”

With nearly two decades in education, Brooks is entering his 8th year as a principal.

We are kicking off our fall fundraiser this morning!!

Our band program has nearly doubled in size and we are expecting this growth to continue. All money raised will go towards supplies, clinicians, transportation, incentives, and recruitment.
