How do genetics, environment and community shape the risk of dementia?
Thanks to a $500,000 UT System Faculty STARs Award, Dr. Claudia Suemoto of the Kate Marmion School of Public Health is expanding research to better understand the factors driving dementia in South Texas populations.

National leadership in public health starts here.
Under the leadership of Dean Vasan S. Ramachandran, MD, the Kate Marmion School of Public Health at UT San Antonio has secured a $44 million NIH contract to continue the groundbreaking RURAL Cohort Study.
This landmark effort is helping close critical research gaps in rural health by bringing advanced screenings and long-term health research directly to underserved communities across the rural South.
