Pecan Valley Elementary STEM Academy

Today, our students learned from professionals who use STEM in a variety of careers and settings! Throughout the day, students rotated through presentations that exposed them to different STEM fields, career pathways, and real-world applications. Students explored careers connected to neuroscience, technology, engineering, science, programming, water systems, and more, while seeing firsthand how STEM professionals use problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration in their work.

Students also focused on our STEM Fluency Skill of Perseverance, learning that challenges, unsuccessful attempts, and adjusting their thinking are all important parts of the STEM process.

A huge thank you to our STEM Spotlight presenters: Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CIS-SA), neuroscientists Dr. Grenier and Dr. S., Compudopt, and San Antonio Water System (SAWS) for sharing their time, experiences, and expertise with our students! We loved seeing our students learn directly from STEM professionals and discover just how many places STEM can take them!

Our Pre-K students put their STEM skills to work as they designed and built a sturdy house for the Three Little Pigs! Students explored how to make their structures strong enough to withstand the Big Bad Wolf. Through building, testing, and problem solving, students learned that sometimes you have to try, make changes, and try again to make your idea work!

First STEM Friday Challenge of the Year!

PV wrapped up our first week of school with our very first STEM Friday!

Our students jumped into their first STEM Friday Challenge, creating, exploring, problem-solving, and working together while building important STEM Fluency Skills!

STEM Fridays give our students opportunities to learn by doing, try new ideas, work through challenges, and discover that sometimes the best learning happens when we keep trying!

Meet the Pecan Valley Team!

We’re officially two days into the 2026–2027 school year, and we couldn’t let the first week go by without introducing the amazing people who make Pecan Valley such a special place!

From our grade level teams to our support staff, it takes ALL of us working together to make each day great for our students.

Returning Student Registration opens tomorrow, July 6!

Take a few minutes to complete your student's registration early so we're ready for a great start to the 2026-2027 school year. Early registration helps our schools prepare class schedules, transportation, staffing and other essential services before students return.

Before you begin, have these items available if updates are needed:
• Proof of residency
• Parent/guardian photo ID
• Student birth certificate and Social Security card (if requested)
• Current immunization records

A BIG thanks to the families and community partners for gathering this morning to rejuvenate our pollinator garden.

Moldonaldo nursery educated us on plant care and supplied tools and plants for this project while Gardopia gave away fig trees. Our family resource center and other partners enhanced families in other crafts we spent the morning curating.
