I’m working on something fun for the holidays and I’d love to get your feedback!

I’ll be making small-batch, handmade playdough using thoughtfully chosen ingredients, with beautiful colors inspired by nature and the places we love here in Marin. Think little mason jars of playdough that make sweet gifts, stocking stuffers, or just a fun surprise for the little ones in your life.

Before I get started with holiday production, I’d love to see if there’s interest in the community!

🌿We’ve been getting quite a few requests for nature 🎉birthday parties and we are all for it! You can now book a Snails & Turkey Tails Nature Birthday Party! We have two packages to choose from and you can customize your party with fun add-ons like face painting, nature crowns, fairy wands, potions and crafts. Every party includes a mud kitchen, a scavenger hunt, games, loose parts play, and story circle. Visit the website to learn more! Ages 2-6.

We’ve made a few changes to our camps. We’ve expanded the age span to include 6-year-olds and we now meet from 10AM-3PM. There are some tremendous benefits to mixed-age play AND we love hosting siblings! The time change gives campers a full 5 hours of outdoor play and exploration and gives you a good chunk of time to handle other important stuff like work and self care. Do us a favor and spread the word.

It looks like we have one more warm week before settling into fall days filled with cool breezes, falling leaves, and sweater weather. Join us in November as we celebrate everything autumnal. One of our favorite summer camp locations, China Camp, transforms as a new season unfolds and we are so excited to observe, explore, and discover together! Children ages 3-6 are invited to come together with a spirit of curiosity as we splash in puddles, make mud pies, build structures, climb trees, and have some good, old-fashioned fun in nature. At Snails & Turkey Tails, we believe young children learn best when they have time to wonder, move, create, play, and connect with the natural world.

Our nature-based approach brings together the beauty of several early childhood philosophies:

🌲 Nature-based learning — We take learning outdoors, where children can explore real materials, observe seasonal changes, follow their curiosity, and develop a lasting connection with nature.

📚 Waldorf-inspired learning — We nurture early literacy and math through stories, songs, rhythm, movement, games, storytelling, nature experiences, and meaningful hands-on activities rather than worksheets and drills.

✨ Keeping the magic alive — Childhood is a magical time. We make room for imagination, wonder, singing, dancing, silly moments, laughter, and the joy of simply being a child.

🎨 Reggio-inspired co-learning — Children are capable, curious learners with ideas of their own. We listen, observe, ask questions, and follow their interests as we discover alongside them.

🍂 UPCOMING SEASONAL CAMPS ARE OPEN FOR REGISTRATION! 🌿

If your child loves getting muddy, climbing, exploring, collecting treasures, watching wildlife, and spending their days outdoors, our upcoming Snails & Turkey Tails camps are for them. 🐌🌲

We have three seasons of outdoor adventures coming up:

🍁 FALL CAMP
November 23–25
📍 China Camp
A cozy three-day fall adventure filled with nature exploration, outdoor play, and plenty of time to get curious.

❄️ WINTER CAMPS
December 21–23 & December 28-31
📍 China Camp
Winter in the outdoors means exploring, discovering, playing, and embracing whatever the season brings.

🌲 MIDWINTER CAMP
February 15-19
📍 Lake Lagunitas
Five days of outdoor adventures to wrap up the season— with plenty of room for imagination, movement, and child-led exploration.

At Snails & Turkey Tails, there are no worksheets, prescribed crafts, or packed schedules. Instead, children have time to follow their curiosity, take supported risks, build confidence, and experience the natural world firsthand.

Everyone - I’m so excited to share that I’ve started a new role at Wade Thomas School as a TK Instructional Assistant! 💛

I’m really excited to be back in classroom setting, supporting young children, learning alongside them, and being part of a wonderful school community. It feels like such a natural extension of the work I’ve been doing with children for so many years.

And there’s an extra-special connection that makes this new beginning even sweeter… one of my favorite summer campers is in my class! 🥹🌿 What a gift to get to watch a child I’ve gotten to know through Snails & Turkey Tails continue growing and learning in a completely different setting.

And don’t worry — Snails & Turkey Tails isn’t going anywhere! 🌿🐌 My seasonal camps are still happening, and I’ll continue creating those outdoor adventures where children can explore, get muddy, take risks, make discoveries, and simply have the freedom to be kids.

I’m feeling incredibly grateful for this new opportunity and excited to have both parts of my work in my life — the classroom during the week and my nature programs and camps throughout the year. 💚

🌲Our seasonal camps are all about fun, adventure, discovery, and connection—with plenty of time and space for children to simply be children outdoors.

🐌We keep our camps intentionally small, with a maximum of 8 campers and a 1:4 adult-to-child ratio. This allows us to truly know each child, follow their interests, support their growing independence, and create a close-knit little community.

🍁Our days take us outdoors at Lake Lagunitas and China Camp, where the natural world becomes our classroom and playground. We might explore the woods, search for tiny creatures, build with sticks, climb, create, splash, observe wildlife, or simply settle into a cozy spot and see where the day takes us.

🌎There’s no rushing from one adult-directed activity to the next. Instead, children have time to wonder, take supported risks, follow their curiosity, make discoveries, and connect—with nature, with each other, and with themselves.
