Intern Success Spotlight: Jadon Montgomery!
Jadon spent his 2023–2024 internship in Midland, Texas, where he gained hands-on engineering experience through geotechnical work and construction materials testing. His role took him from the office directly to job sites, giving him practical exposure to client interactions, report writing, field testing, and the real-world application of engineering principles.
Throughout the internship, Jadon strengthened his technical skills and learned how engineering theory translates into actual field conditions—where variables, materials, and real-world challenges don’t always follow the formulas from the classroom. This experience gave him a clearer understanding of the industry and helped him see a meaningful career path in materials engineering.
Jadon says the opportunity boosted his confidence and reaffirmed that he truly has what it takes to become an engineer. Getting to work in the field showed him the importance of hands-on learning and how valuable it is for future engineers to see the impact of their work firsthand.
Intern Success Spotlight: Cameron Wilson!
Cameron completed her Family Nurse Practitioner practicum through Angelo State University, combining didactic coursework with hands-on clinical experience at two local healthcare facilities. Through this experience, she discovered that being a Family Nurse Practitioner is both challenging and deeply rewarding—allowing her to provide compassionate, patient-centered care that supports longer, healthier lives.
Cameron says this practicum reinforced the importance of letting passion be her guide. Working directly with patients strengthened her commitment to listening first, leading with empathy, and building trust as the foundation of effective care. Her experience reflects the evolving role of Nurse Practitioners as frontline primary care providers who diagnose, treat, and prescribe while maintaining a holistic approach to patient wellbeing.
As Cameron puts it, “Nurse Practitioners are taught to care before they learn to cure.”

Intern Success Spotlight: Sydney Partin!
This fall, Sydney spent a transformative semester in Washington, D.C. through the Health Policy Immersion Program — an experience that gave her a front-row seat to how healthcare policy is created, debated, and shaped at the national level. She learned directly from policymakers, advocates, and organizations working to improve healthcare access and equity across the country.
As a Biology (Pre-Med) major, Sydney says this experience opened her eyes to the crucial role advocacy plays in creating a system that truly serves all people. She now feels more confident entering her future career with a strong understanding of how the healthcare system functions beyond the clinic — and how physicians can influence meaningful change.
Sydney hopes to carry this knowledge forward as she continues her path toward medical school, using her policy background to better advocate for her future patients and the needs of her community. She’s committed to becoming a physician who not only provides care, but also works to ensure the system supports those she serves.

Austin’s core role focused on credit underwriting, where he developed the technical skills and confidence to evaluate increasingly complex loans. This hands-on experience provided him with a comprehensive view of the financial sector and helped solidify his career goals within the world of finance.
Austin says the internship has given him reassurance and excitement about his future — offering clarity on potential career paths and confidence in his direction after graduation. As he puts it, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

Intern Success Spotlight: Inglai Hangaripaii!
Inglai served as a Graduate Assistant with the Angelo State University Small Business Development Center, an experience that doubled as both hands-on training and an internship course for her MBA and MS in Business Data Science & Analytics. During her time with the SBDC, she gained a wide range of practical skills—from coordinating events and managing social media to creating digital content, conducting client research, and supporting business advisors one-on-one.
She credits this role with giving her more real-world experience in a single year than all her previous jobs combined. Inglai says working with a collaborative, mission-driven team helped her build confidence, develop new skills, and better understand how small business support strengthens the local community.
Her experience at the SBDC opened the door to new opportunities across San Angelo, helped her step outside her comfort zone, and prepared her for a successful transition from student to professional. Leading the 2025 BizPitch project and working across multiple business industries gave her the chance to showcase her creativity, strengthen her communication skills, and grow as a leader.
Inglai says she is grateful for this invaluable experience and encourages other graduate students to explore opportunities with the ASU SBDC to grow personally and professionally.

Intern Success Spotlight: CJ Peña!
This summer, CJ took his passion for sports to the next level through a fan experience internship in Minnesota, where he learned the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating an unforgettable game-day atmosphere. From managing high-energy environments to troubleshooting unexpected challenges, CJ strengthened his ability to stay calm under pressure and ensure every fan interaction starts with positivity and professionalism.
Before his time in Minnesota, CJ gained valuable experience working with the Dallas Wings of the WNBA—knowledge he brought with him to elevate the fan engagement experience even further. His internship allowed him to apply what he learned, experiment with new ideas, and see firsthand how intentional details can transform an event into a memory.
CJ says this experience reaffirmed his passion for sports and fan engagement. He believes every fan deserves to feel like it’s their first time walking into a stadium—and that those moments can shape a lifelong connection to the team. He plans to continue building a career in sports where he can create meaningful, lasting experiences for every fan who walks through the gates.
As CJ puts it, “I want to build legacies and not just moments.”
Burke completed his internship with Angelo State Athletics, where he combined his passion for sports with hands-on experience in the operations and culture of collegiate athletics. Already familiar with the world of sports, he used this opportunity to deepen his knowledge, build new skills, and gain a front-row view of how an athletics program functions behind the scenes.
With career goals of becoming a college football general manager and leading an NIL program, Burke’s internship helped him take meaningful steps toward that future. He’s grateful for the support of Angelo State Athletics and the Norris-Vincent College of Business for opening doors and helping him grow.
