Our 4th Annual "I'm a Paraprofessional... and I'm Supposed to Do What?" was a HUGE success!

Thank you to all of the paraprofessionals who joined us today. We appreciate you, we celebrate you, and we are grateful for everything you do for our students!

Today was filled with learning, laughter, collaboration, and hands-on activities that reminded us just how important our paras are to the success of our students and schools. They wear many hats, show up with big hearts, and make a difference every single day.

A BIG thank you to Region 14 ESC for sharing their knowledge, encouragement, and for making our amazing paraprofessionals feel so special, because they absolutely deserve it!

The ESC Region 15 Teacher Incentive Allotment team spent the week in San Antonio hosting the final bootcamp of the year for other ESC leaders and attending the TIA Conference with districts.

Our teams presented three sessions. Miles ISD leaders Ty Stevens and Brianne Brock presented a session and sat on a panel to share their experience with Strategic Compensation planning.

We enjoyed networking with our districts and friends across the state!!

We had a successful Related Service counselors training where we learned about Red flags from Children’s Advocacy Center in the morning. In the afternoon we did hands on counseling activities and how that those activities can scaffold for variety of needs for our SPED students.

Thank you San Angelo Health Foundation for the conference space and thank you San Angelo Discovery for the swag bags!!

What if the student who fell asleep in class last week wasn’t lazy?

What if they were up all night helping care for younger siblings?

What if the parent who missed the school meeting wasn’t uninterested...

..but was single parent or grandparent working a second job just to keep the lights on?

Yesterday, educators from San Angelo ISD participated in a Poverty Simulation, an experience that challenged us to step into the realities that many families face every single day.

As educators, we teach reading, math, science, and history. But our work is so much bigger than academics. Every day, we serve children carrying stories we may never fully know…stories of resilience, struggle, sacrifice, and hope.

This experience reminded us that before meaningful learning can happen, meaningful relationships must come first.

When we seek to understand before we judge, lead with empathy, and partner with families, we create schools where every child feels seen, valued, and supported.

Education isn’t just about helping students succeed in the classroom. It’s about helping them navigate life.

Take a moment to watch this video and see how one simulation opened our eyes, strengthened our hearts, and reminded us why this work matters so much.

And don’t forget to join us next time we provide the simulation!!
