This will be the last post as the President of the Sigma Upsilon Chapter of Phi Alpha.
Now that the weekend has passed and most of us are ready to move on to the next chapter in our lives, I just wanted to say how extremely proud I am of each and every one of my classmates. I know that I pi**ed a lot of people off, I hurt some feelings (a lot actually), and I know I have frustrated many of my classmates (especially underclassmen), and some professors, but we accomplished our mission. I thank you all for letting me have the honor of being President of Phi Alpha, but I most of all, want to thank you for letting me have the honor of being your friend and classmate.
Maybe you know where you are going in life, maybe you don’t. Don’t let the fear of failing stop you.
I guarantee that you cannot succeed without the risk of failure. You cannot have a voice without someone criticizing you. You have to take risks to succeed in anything you do, anything you try, anyone you meet.
Don’t get complacent, break your norms and do what’s uncomfortable. The reward will be well worth it. Vince Lombardi once said, “Success is never final. Failure is never fatal. It’s courage that counts.” Be willing to fail and have the courage to pick your ass up when knocked down and keep on fighting. Without that struggle, what is your success anyway? It is within these struggles and failures that we learn about ourselves. We make ourselves stronger.
This is your life, and you must trust your own voice, your own ideas, your integrity and self-worth and through this you will accomplish your goals. You don’t have to be fearless, just don’t let fear stop you. Let the fear fuel your fire. Don’t worry about what others think, or try to impress your friends and family, they are not able to live YOUR life.
Live your life the way you want. It’s yours and you make the “degree plan” for your life. Hold no regrets.
I love each and every one of my classmates and professors. They have all taught me valuable lessons that I will carry with me into my future. And if I fail, so what, I am going to keep on fighting till I reach my goals.
Congrats class of 2017, I am always here if you ever need.
