"The budget estimates that the cosmetology program will cost the district $203,328 to operate, but considering the $6,000 collected for adult students for the 18-month program and the revenue the state pays for high school students enrolled in the program, the real costs are closer to $126,671"-Calaveras Enterprise, September 29, 2016.

In the scheme of things, $126,671 is not a lot of money-and there are ways to cut some of those costs; examples that have been mentioned are stocking the school with a less expensive color line, getting local salon owners together to take a look at what they could help with and where costs can be reduced. To close this program would contradict the entire mission of the California Department of Education, to say the least.
