MONDAY UPDATE:

🚨 GENEVA COUNTY SCHOOLS – CLOSURE UPDATE 🚨

Geneva County Schools will remain CLOSED on Tuesday, October 13, due to the continued impact of Hurricane Isaias.

We have between 2,000-3,000 families throughout our county who are still without power, and we want to be mindful of the challenges our students, employees, and their families are facing as our communities continue to recover.

All Geneva County Schools will reopen on Wednesday, October 14.

We sincerely appreciate the tireless efforts of our power companies, city officials, emergency personnel, and everyone who has worked around the clock to restore power and help our communities recover. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed!

Thank you to our families and employees for your patience, understanding, and support during this time. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday!

🚨 GENEVA COUNTY SCHOOLS – SCHOOL CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Geneva County Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, October 12, due to widespread power outages throughout Geneva County following the hurricane. Some of our schools are still without power at this time.

The safety and well-being of our students, employees, and their families remain our top priority. We understand that many families are dealing with power outages, storm damage, and other challenges, and we want to allow everyone time to focus on their safety and recovery.

We will continue to monitor conditions throughout the county and provide updates regarding the reopening of schools as soon as possible.

We are grateful for the dedicated utility crews, emergency responders, and community members working tirelessly to restore services and help our county recover.

Please continue to stay safe, check on your neighbors, and keep those affected by the storm in your thoughts and prayers.

Hurricane Update – Geneva County Schools

Good afternoon, Geneva County Schools families!

We hope that all of our students, employees, and families are safe following the hurricane. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in our community as we begin the recovery process.

We are currently assessing all of our schools and facilities for storm damage. At this time, all of our schools are without power, and we have sustained some damage. Thankfully, none of the damage appears to be severe, and we are extremely grateful that our facilities were spared from major structural damage.

🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🚨

As we work to protect our food supplies and prepare our schools for reopening, we have an immediate need for the following:

* A 12,000-watt (12 kW) generator to operate a refrigeration unit.

* Large generators to power our lunchroom freezers.

* Refrigerated re**er trucks or trailers that can be used to move and temporarily store frozen food until power is restored.

If you know of a business, company, or individual who may be able to assist us with these rental needs, please contact:

Superintendent Becky Birdsong

We are incredibly thankful that our schools were spared significant damage, and most importantly, we pray that our students, employees, and families are safe.

We understand that families and employees need time to plan for the upcoming week. We will continue monitoring power restoration, road conditions, and the safety of our facilities throughout the weekend. A decision regarding whether Geneva County Schools will reopen on Monday will be made and communicated no later than 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Please continue to monitor our official communication channels for updates.

We know many throughout Geneva County are facing challenges of their own, and we are grateful for the kindness, generosity, and willingness of our community to help one another during difficult times.

Please continue to keep our entire community in your prayers as we work together to recover.
