PANW specializes mainly in offering language classes (Spanish, French and Chinese) to students K-12. It is aimed to facilitate and promote world language acquisition for students who wish to have a head start in learning a second language before high school and college or like to further their studies in depth. It has gained its reputation through high academic quality and fun activities to ease a
cquiring languages for children, youth, teen and adults. Currently the program is running as an after/before school extended program and after COVID19 we migrated our classes to online modality. In 2020 PANW launched adult language program.
About the Owner/Founder
Parisa Behzad-Pour, the founder has passion for teaching languages and have been teaching world languages for last 20+ years worldwide. She got her MA in Liberal Arts (French Studies) & Second Language Acquisition from York University, Canada and speaks three languages fluently (French, Persian, English) and is familiar with Chinese and Arabic. Upon settling in East side Seattle,in 2005, she started working as language specialist teaching French and design curriculum at a reputable Montessori school in Bellevue a. Prior to that she taught French all grades and level back home Canada and was head of language department in second largest Montessori school in Toronto. She has been working as a senior world language instructor at Bellevue College since 2008 where she designs and develops variety of language classes for multiple language department for teen and adult language learners. She also offers cultural workshop and travel advises for language learners who seek to deepen their knowledge towards a country or culture. She is a passionate language instructor and devoted teacher whose goal is to make second language classes not only accessible but also effective and fun. In 2012, Bellevue College awarded Madame Parisa with prestigious certificate of Appreciation for Teaching and Community Engagement and contribution to the success of college academic year 2012-2013.
About Curriculum
The curriculum is carefully designed to introduce children with new vocabulary and their correct pronunciation. Every single song has a purpose and is cemented into the curriculum. A class by class progressive system is utilized to introduce new materials while constantly reviewing what has been learned in previous classes. Different themes such as part of the body, foods, animals, school/home objects, clothing, and a lot more are introduced one after another. A multitude of action-based games and activities are integrated with our books and memory cards to reinforce what your child has already been taught. At this entry level we enforce correct pronunciation and vocabulary expansion through creative review and repetition. Therefore, your child's acquisition of the target language will expand dramatically. Middle school also benefit from TPR activities in some extend. Grammar, basic conversation, and phonic lessons are included in the curriculum to make them ready for reading and comprehending in Target language. They would be encouraged to converse, make simple phrases and questions. After COVID19, academy has geared up to widen its services and include more support for high school students with their language studies with private teaching, tutoring, homework help, AP and standardized subject test in French, Spanish, Chinese. Our team of language experts (in French, Spanish & Chinese), who is familiar with multi-level multi age classroom setting, developed a well-rounded curriculum to ensure maximum exposure and success in delivering quality second language program to all ages and levels in traditional setting, in person classroom. Our instructors are fluent in their language of instruction. More importantly, they have background in teaching languages and also are trained in delivering high quality program by following successful curriculum developed by experts in the field and based on the education requirement and trend in our state. Since we believe fluency only doesn’t qualify one to become a language teacher, a strong curriculum and familiarity with multi-level classroom setting are crucial in order to answer the need of the students in any after school classes.
