Hand in Hand We Code HHWC is a student-led organization dedicated to encouraging students of all ages to try coding and develop other technical skills.

HHWC is now part of the Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States. Hand in Hand in Code (HHWC) is a coding club led by 3 Eastlake High School student volunteers under AYLUS. Our goal is to encourage students of all ages to try coding and develop technical and digital skills. We welcome students of all ages and give everyone a chance to learn coding with friends who are just as enthusiastic! Besides just coding, we also offer leadership opportunities through TA positions. We regularly host free coding events for kids to serve our community. As student volunteers, we design, advertise, and teach at our own events. Languages Offered...

What a wonderful summer it has been for HHWG!

Thanks to the dedication of our instructors and the support of our students, families, and community, HHWG successfully completed seven free summer camps in 2026, reaching more than 100 students through over 170 registrations. At the same time, our community came together to raise $510 for the Pantry Packs Program, enough to help provide 60 Pantry Packs to students experiencing food insecurity in the Lake Washington School District.

The $510 donation has been sent to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation and designated for its Pantry Packs Program.

We are especially grateful to our HHWG instructor team, whose time and commitment made these free educational opportunities possible. Their efforts gave students the opportunity to explore new subjects, strengthen their skills, and learn in a supportive environment.

We are so proud of what our students, instructors, volunteers, families, and donors accomplished together this summer. More than 100 students had access to free learning opportunities, while 60 students will benefit from Pantry Packs through our fundraising effort.

Our 2026 summer programs provide students with opportunities to explore STEM subjects, develop problem-solving skills, and discover new interests in a supportive learning environment.

HHWG successfully hosted a 5-session AP Physics 1 Prep Camp from March 1 to March 29, 2026. The Camp was led by instructor Yufei Ye with assistance from Eric Huang. The class ran from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and included a structured lecture followed by a Q&A session. Yufei also dedicated additional time after class for homework correction.

In lesson 1, students reviewed the kinematic equations and kinematic ideas about velocity, acceleration, and force vectors.

In lesson 2, students reviewed Newton's 3 laws of motion and force body diagrams along with work, energy, and power. Many vocabulary words, formulas, and concepts were refreshed.

In lesson 3, students reviewed energy, center of mass, momentum, and impulses. We went over the different formulas and processes associated with these subjects, along with tips and implementations.

In lesson 4, students reviewed rotational energy, kinematics, momentum, and impulses. We went over the different formulas and processes associated with these subjects, such as inertia.

In our fifth and final lesson, students reviewed simple harmonic motion with springs and pendulums, and went over multiple review problems. Students were able to engage in discussion with instructors about the topics taught, and work together to solve practice problems.

To conclude our 5 day AP Physics 1 review camp, we'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone for taking the time out of their day to show up and attend our classes.

HHWG successfully hosted six sessions of the AMC8 Prep Camp in January led by instructor Jiayi Joey Zhu, with assistance from Elissa Song, Xiao Mao, Kerui Xu.

January 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, and 25, 2026

Day 1 and Day 2: We did a walkthrough of basic AMC 8 practice problems, covering a variety of topics such as measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode), simple algebra, mathematical reasoning, fractions, max/min, and number sequences. The regular session was 1.5 hours long, and gave the students good insight into foundational mathematics. Jiayi also spent additional time on Q&A and homework correction.

Day 3 and Day 4: We did a walkthrough of some more basic AMC 8 practice problems, covering a variety of topics such as measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode), simple geometry (angles, shapes, area, perimeter), sequences, and some simple algebra. The class was 1.5 hours long, and gave the students good insight into geometry and algebraic topics. Jiayi also spent additional time on Q&A and homework correction.

Day 5 and Day 6: We did a walkthrough of some AMC 8 practice problems, focusing on topics like bases (converting to/from), factors/divisors, and reasoning. The class was 1.5 hours long, and gave the students good insight into number theory. Jiayi also spent additional time on Q&A and homework correction.

HHWG AMC8 Math Training Camp (January 2026)

HHWG will offer a 6-session AMC8 Math Training Camp from January 10 to January 25, 2026. Interested students are welcome to register and join!
This camp is designed to systematically cover the foundational math knowledge required for the AMC8 competition. It will help students master key topics, improve problem-solving skills, and become familiar with the AMC8 testing process—including timing, format, and strategies—to build a strong foundation for future participation in AMC10/12 and even qualification for AIME.
Important Note: This camp is NOT limited to 8th grade and younger students. Students of any grade interested in math competitions are welcome (including high school students for review or introduction to contests).
Instructors
• High school Sophomores who are AIME qualifiers (experienced competitors with proven success in advanced math contests)
Schedule
• Dates: January 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 2026 (Saturdays and Sundays only)
• Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM (90 minutes per session)
• Total: 6 sessions over three weekends
This intensive weekend format is perfect preparation leading up to the official 2026 AMC8 (typically held late January).

HHWG successfully hosted a five-session Physics F=ma Camp in November 2025. The sessions were held on October 26, November 2, November 9, November 16, and November 23, 2025, led by instructor Yufei Ye with assistance from Anthony Cao. We sincerely thank everyone who attended our camp.

Day 1 (October 26): F=ma Instructions and 2D Motion.

Students were introduced to the basic rules of the F=ma exam. They practiced example problems surrounding 2D Motion, UAM equations, foundational physics concepts, as well as some force and energy questions. These practice problems were similar to the level of the actual exam.

Day 2 (November 2): F=ma Exam Weighting and Forces

Students reviewed the exam weightings for each physics unit in the F=ma exam. Afterwards, they were given practice problems mainly on forces, free body diagrams, foundational physics concepts, and some energy questions. Based on these, students could test their own skill level
and readiness for the exam.

Day 3 (November 9): Day 3 (November 9): Energy and Work

In Lesson 3, practice problems surrounding mainly energy, work, free body diagrams, and forces were given to challenge the students. These topics have the largest exam weighting percentages, and are crucial to being successful on the F=ma exam. Students learned important tips for solving these types of questions as well.

Day 4 (November 16): Rotation Students were provided with multiple F=ma problems mainly surrounding rotation, forces, torque, free body diagrams, and energy. Students were also given tips for solving problems on the exam to use their time efficiently and effectively.

Day 5 (November 23): Oscillations and Simple Harmonic Motion

In Lesson 5, students practiced multiple questions from F-ma exams on Simple Harmonic Motion, period, frequency, and energy. They also learned the importance of drawing diagrams and paths of motion. At the end, the instructor and teaching assistant gave their own tips for the exam and learning physics in general, and also discussed a bit about their past experiences in this area of science.

I would like to share some great news with you: Hand in Hand We Grow was recently featured in the Lake Washington School Foundation Newsletter.

This past summer, Hand in Hand We Grow (HHWG) hosted five week-long free summer camps and organized a successful Pantry Packs Fundraiser, raising $350 to provide 50 food packs for students facing food insecurity in the Lake Washington School District (LWSD). Following our donation, HHWG was interviewed by the district, where we shared the inspiring story behind our camps and fundraiser. The Lake Washington Schools Foundation (LWSF) was moved by our efforts and believes our story will inspire greater community awareness of the growing food insecurity issue within our schools. We want to sincerely thank all the students and families who attended our 2025 HHWC Summer Camps and contributed to the 2025 HHWC Pantry Packs Fundraiser.

This summer, we successfully hosted five free summer camps and raised $350, which will provide 50 Pantry Packs for food-insecure students in the Lake Washington School District. The donation will be sent to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation, designated for the Pantry Packs Program. We will share updates once the donation has been processed.

We are incredibly proud of our dedicated HHWC team, who worked tirelessly to make these free camps possible for our community.

From July 7th to July 11th, Our Math Project Team hosted its week-long summer AMC 10 preparation camp. Teacher Joey and Assistants Kerry, Simon, and Elissa came together to host a virtual Zoom meeting teaching fundamental mathematical concepts to students in order to help them better prepare for future AMC competitions. The camp lasted five days, with each class being two hours long. In addition, Joey also contributed by correcting homework, helping with assignments, and engaging in Q&A support.

Our members collectively agree that the camp was not only educational but fun for both the students and teachers, serving as a critical learning experience and contributing to the development of our crucial 21st century skills.
