Families with children who will be 4 on or before Sept. 1, 2026, with family income(s) below 300% FPL are now eligible for participation in First Steps 4K. For example, a family of four making $99,000 or less annually now qualifies. First Steps 4K provides high quality, FREE preschool in private childcare, charter schools, and private schools. NOTE: Parents who qualify under expanded eligibility (between 185% and 300% federal poverty level) do NOT qualify for 4K+ Sibling Scholarships.

To the children who have moved on from our center, know that you will always be a part of the ABC family. While we miss you dearly, we are so proud of how far you've come and can't wait to watch you continue to learn, grow, and achieve amazing things. We know each of you is going to do great things this school year!

All families of rising 4-year-old kindergarten students are encouraged to check their eligibility and apply at Free4KSC.org.

First Steps 4K partners with more than 300 licensed child care centers, private schools and charter schools across the state, making it easy for families to find a high-quality program that meets their needs. Most schools offer extended day and summer school options.

Summer may be coming to an end, but the memories we’ve made are sure to last!

We wrapped up our summer fun with two unforgettable activities. Our classrooms had a wonderful time creating and stuffing their very own cuddly stuffed animals, giving each one a special name and lots of love. 🧸

To celebrate the last day of summer, we cooled off with an exciting Splash Water Day filled with laughter, smiles, and plenty of fun! 🌊☀️

Thank you to all of our amazing families for sharing another incredible summer with us. We can’t wait to see what the new school year brings as we continue learning, growing, and making more wonderful memories together! 🫶🏼

📚✨ What Our Classes Are Learning! ✨📚

Our Infant & Toddler Room wrapped up June with a camping theme! They learned about animals and insects they might see while camping, including bears, raccoons, and a variety of bugs. They also enjoyed coloring personalized pages with their names to practice recognizing them🏕️🐻🖍️

In our Toddler Room, Summer is in full swing! They’ve been exploring all things summer, especially popsicles and ice cream. They also got a head start on their Fourth of July crafts and had so much fun creating them🍦🎆🇺🇸

Our 3-year-olds watched their butterflies emerge from their chrysalises before releasing them to fly away. Since then, they’ve been diving into an under-the-sea theme, learning about ocean life through fun, hands-on activities🦋🌊🪼

Our 4 & Up Room has been taking walks to the Saluda Theatre on Fridays to participate in library programs hosted by First Steps. During the rest of the week, they’ve been learning all about sharks and celebrated National Doughnut Day with fun activities🦖🦈🍩

🎉 Celebrating 28 Years of ABC Academy, LLC! 🎉

This year, ABC Academy, LLC proudly celebrates 28 years of serving children and families in our community! In a world where small businesses come and go, reaching 28 years is an incredible blessing—and one we don't take for granted.

What makes this milestone even more meaningful is that ABC Academy has remained a third-generation family-owned business. It all began with my grandparents, Edward and Helen Hallman, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for everything ABC Academy is today. My parents, David and Kimberly Hallman Chariker, continued that legacy, with my mom faithfully serving as Director for many years. For the past 10 years and counting, I've had the privilege of continuing the legacy they built, and now my husband and I are honored to carry that legacy into the future together.

ABC Academy has always been home to me. I grew up within these walls, and now I've had the incredible blessing of raising my own daughter here. Watching her experience the same love, learning, and family atmosphere that shaped my childhood has made this journey even more meaningful.

For 28 years, ABC Academy has been more than just a childcare center. It has been a place where children are loved, encouraged, and given the opportunity to learn and grow. We've had the privilege of watching families grow, caring for siblings, and even welcoming back former students as parents themselves. Those moments remind us why we do what we do.

As you scroll through these photos, you might even spot one special throwback picture of me... and yes, maybe even one of me (not) getting in trouble with my mom when she was the Director! It's a fun reminder that ABC Academy has always been so much more than a business—it's home and it's family.

To every teacher and staff member, past and present, thank you for your dedication, compassion, and the countless ways you've impacted the lives of the children in your care. To every family who has trusted us over the past 28 years, thank you for allowing us to be part of your children's stories. Your support has made this milestone possible.

From our family to yours, thank you for being part of this incredible journey. We're grateful for the legacy that has been built over the last 28 years, and we're excited to continue serving our community for many years to come.
