I scream, you scream, we all scream for....reading! Today we had a great time celebrating the students who worked so hard to avoid the "summer slide" by reading and completing their summer reading logs. We had a VIP luncheon where ice cream was served and fun was had. We are so very proud of those that were able to participate!

Our monthly reading log program will begin in October. Each month that a student turns in their log, they will recieve a sweet treat and Pizza Hut pizza certificate. Students who participate in all 6 months of that program will be invited to join us on a field trip to Big Air.

Today was peer buddy day! It's the day that we have all been anxiously waiting for since the start of school and it did not disappoint! Everyone had such a great time meeting their new buddies for the year, getting to know their buddy class, playing games, and helping each other. We are so very excited to see our school family flourish through our peer buddy program again this year!

To show appreciation for "our hometown girl" who has supported our schools for over 40 years and helped obtain the initial funding needed for all of the recent building projects in our district, the Saluda County Board of Education made the decision to dedicate the media center at Saluda Elementary School to Saluda native and former State Superintendent Molly Mitchell Spearman. Yesterday SES hosted a special unveiling to share this news. We are proud that our media center was chosen to honor such a special person and that we now have a constant reminder that even our "small town dreams can change the world"!

Thanks to the dedication of former State Superintendent Molly Spearman, the thoughtful tax payers of Saluda County, and the amazing work of M.B Kahn, Saluda Elementary School is now fully housed in the most amazing two-story structure in our district's history. To celebrate such a historic and monumental time, SES hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for our school family, community, and distinguised visitors from around the state. The ceremony was the perfect opportunity for us to reflect on the history of SES, share our love for our school, and hear from visitors about the importance of such an opportunity. Saluda Elementary School remains grateful and excited for this special building that will allow us to continue to "be about the business of learning".
