I've been reflecting on this school year a lot lately with our banquet quickly approaching. I figured I'd take a minute to tell everybody how great my students are!

At the beginning of this school year, I told my students that we would do any events they wanted to do this year. The only stipulation was that they had to plan it and get the bulk of it in order. My exact words, "You plan it and I'll make it happen." Man, they took that and ran with it.

With inspiration from John Carpenter and Makenzie Carter's students, mine decided they wanted to host a stockman's contest. As we left the Carroll Co Fair Stockman's Contest, my students started planning. By the time we got back to Saltville, they had the bulk of the details worked out. All I had to do was 1. Pre entries 2. Insurance 3. Food 4. Registration. We had 96 contestants for our first ever event.

I also had a student that was wanting to plan a horse show-talk about intimidating. We each held up our ends if the deal though! At the end of April, we were able to hold the first ever RVF Stock Horse Show. We had numerous entries in all 25 classes and roughly 30 different horses entered throughout the day. Again, all I did was registration and paperwork. Students arranged everything.

To say I'm proud of this group is an understatement. These kids push me to be better and keep me creative. I think I've learned more from them than they could ever learn from me. There may not be very many of them, but golly are they mighty.

After we went to Carowinds Friday to celebrate a year of hard work and achievements, we set out to Ceres again for some more community service. A few members met there to give tours of the FFA and Henry Groseclose Museum to folks that attended Ceres Day.

If it's not something you've ever seen, you should look into going! There is a lot of knowledge and wisdom stored in these four walls.
