🎨✨ PICASSO MEETS 3RD GRADE ELA! ✨📚

Our 3rd graders brought ELA standards to life through the colorful world of Pablo Picasso and Cubism! Students explored descriptive language, perspective, and how details communicate meaning—then created their own bold, Picasso-inspired mixed-media self-portraits! 🖌️✂️

By combining Mississippi College & Career Readiness ELA Standards with National Visual Arts Standards, students used color, shape, texture, layering, and personal expression to demonstrate their learning!

This is what arts integration is all about—students learning academic content THROUGH the arts! 💙🧡🐯

📚🐾 Top Dog Behavior at Saltillo Elementary! 🐾📚

After finishing Fifth Grade Top Dogs by Jerry Spinelli with our classes, Mrs. Long and Ms. Trulove had the opportunity to talk with our students about what it really means to be a “Top Dog”- not just in a book, but right here at our school! ❤️

Together, we discussed the character traits and behaviors that make someone a Top Dog at Saltillo Elementary, from showing kindness and respect to making good choices, being responsible, and looking out for others.

To celebrate, our students were presented with their very own “Top Dog”button as a reminder to keep showing those Top Dog behaviors every day! 🐶🏆

A special thank you to The Button House for creating these awesome buttons for our students!

They were the perfect way to bring our reading experience to life and remind our kids that being a Top Dog is all about how you treat others and the choices you make. 💙🧡

It was “National S’mores Day,” and students beat the outdoor heat by making S’mores inside the classrooms!
