The The University of Utah Reading Clinic (UURC) in the University of Utah College of Education was selected by Governor Spencer Cox to receive $968,861 in federal funds to assist Utah students impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic. The UURC will provide assessment and intervention to struggling readers and professional development to their educators throughout the state over the next two years.

Today, we kick off Black History Month. The theme for this year is, The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity. We join the celebrations by recognizing the amazing Inez Beverly Prosser, the first African American female to get a PhD in psychology (1933). She used her earnings to help 6 of her siblings get their own college degrees.

The College of Education is honored to host the International Board of Books for Young People's Silent Book Exhibition. This exhibit is on display June 4-14 and includes wordless picture books from over twenty countries that can be understood and enjoyed by children regardless of language. Congratulations to UROP student Sam Desjardins (mentor Dr. Anne Cook) for presenting "Using Eye-Tracking Technology to Investigate Processing of Idioms during Reading" at The University of Utah Undergraduate Research Symposium at the Union today.

The Undergraduate Research Symposium provides an opportunity for students to present their work in a scholarly setting to students, faculty and other members of the University of Utah community. Undergraduate students from all disciplines are invited to present their research and creative work.
