Meet Sabrina, an SLP finishing her third year in Granite Preschool! Sabrina joined our program after finishing graduate school and has been a great addition to our staff.
Sabrina loves working with students while they are playing in the classroom during daily routines. She says, "They understand language concepts so much faster when they can apply it to their play" instead of working with them one-on-one. She also enjoys working on the foundational skills of language and helping to empower them to use all sorts of modalities to meet their needs, including sign language, gestures/pointing, and verbal communication. She loves how students begin to understand that replacing this communication for challenging behaviors gets their needs met much faster.
We are grateful to Sabrina for the work she does in Preschool. She has a great rapport with students, teachers, and families which leads to positive outcomes for student communication. Sabrina is organized and stays on top of all her special education related responsibilities. She goes the extra mile for kids and colleagues and is an excellent communicator. Thank you, Sabrina, for everything you do!

Introducing Jocelyn Dominguez and Jen Merrell - the new teaching team at Beehive! Jen and Jocelyn started with Granite in the middle of this school year, and they have made a huge impact with their students since they arrived!
Jen's favorite part of working in preschool is getting to know the kids and their personalities. She also enjoys seeing the "aha moments" when skills start clicking for her students. She enjoys reading books and teaching students through pictures and words, & reassuring them that even though they can't read yet they can look at the pictures and figure out what the story is about. Mrs. Jen always makes a point to highlight things like rhyming words and patterns in the books she reads. Jen also appreciates teaching children by helping them notice what is happening around them, such as talking about feelings and why a child may be feeling a certain way based on what is happening. Jen has experience as a certified teacher and it definitely shows in her natural instincts and her ability to differentiate on the fly. She is very attuned to what individual students need to be successful.
Jocelyn came to Granite with great experience and quickly developed a wonderful rapport with students and parents. Her favorite skill to teach is math, as she has been teaching it in different settings for years. That said, she has also been very excited to see students learning their letters and sounds, both from explicit and implicit instruction. Jocelyn's favorite part of working in preschool is how she feels the children actually become her teacher. She feels like she is always learning from her students and that everything she thought she knew becomes very small in relation to the importance of her amazing students. Jocelyn has worked through a number of challenges since she started with Granite and has been a trooper throughout and has maintained a very positive attitude. We appreciate her resilience and hard work very much!
We hope this teaching team will be with us for years to come and appreciate them stepping right into their new roles in the middle of the year!

We are excited to highlight Jessica Bond! Jessica has worked with preschool since 2019. She started that year as a parent and was soon after hired as a special class assistant at Hunter. She worked with that team until this year when she was hired as a special education consultant. Jess is such a valued member of each team she works with. She goes above and beyond to support her team members and the students in her classes.
Jess's favorite part of working in preschool is not only working with this age group of kids, but also the people who have become like family to her. "Preschool is also where I found my calling and I finally feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be professionally." Her favorite skill to teach is color and shape recognition because of all the fun activities you can do with them.
Jessica loves it when she walks into her classrooms and the kids immediately greet her with a smile and are excited to see her. She also loves having conversations with them. They remind her of what’s important in life and to not always be so serious. They also motivate her to do her best to make this world a better place for them, so they can continue to shine their individual little lights :)
We are lucky to have Jess as part of our preschool!

Meet Kylee Galvan and Amanda Manheimer! They are our wonderful teaching team in the afternoons at South Kearns Preschool.
Kylee has been working with Granite Preschool for three years. She started as an assistant and has been a lead teacher for the past two years. Kylee loves getting to know all of the her students. She values the relationships she builds with them as she discovers their interests and learns about the things they don't like. Kylee enjoys teaching alphabet and writing skills. She loves to see how proud kids are of themselves when the get the hang of writing their names. She says, "It's so fun to see all of their growth from the beginning of the year, especially if they came in not knowing any of the letters."
This is Amanda's first year working in Preschool, and we're so glad she's here! Amanda's just loves the kids. She says, "They are at such a fun age, so eager to learn and so sweet. They definitely capture your heart!" Amanda's favorite skills to teach are related to art. She loves to see how each child's personality comes through in their art. She commented, " I love seeing their creativity and how proud they are with their finished result."
Kylee and Amanda are a terrific team! They make sure everything is planned and prepared before class starts to they can spend their class time connecting with kids and providing excellent instruction. The children in their class love their teachers. Together, with the other staff in their classroom, Kylee and Amanda make a great team. You can tell they love their jobs! Thank you, Kylee and Amanda, for everything you do!
