Position: Special Education Paraprofessional
Employment Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, during school hours
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Position Overview

Pacific Heritage Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Part-Time Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. This position works closely with special education teachers and general education staff to support students with disabilities in accessing instruction, developing independence, and successfully participating in the school environment.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, is patient and flexible, and is committed to helping every student feel supported and successful.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and small-group support to students receiving special education services.
Assist students with academic tasks in reading, writing, math, and other content areas.
Support students in general education and special education classroom settings.
Follow teacher-developed instructional plans, accommodations, modifications, and behavior-support strategies.

Help students develop independence, organization, communication, social, and functional skills.
Provide prompting, redirection, and positive reinforcement as directed by the special education teacher.
Collect and record student data as requested for IEP goals and progress monitoring.
Assist with classroom organization, instructional materials, and adapted learning activities.
Support safe transitions between classrooms and other school environments.
Maintain student confidentiality and follow all school policies regarding student information.
Collaborate professionally with teachers, administrators, related-service providers, and other school staff.
Perform other student-support duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work effectively and patiently with children with a variety of learning and support needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of an educational team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with students and families.
Ability to meet applicable school, state, and federal employment requirements.
Preferred:

Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, special education, or related setting.
Experience supporting students with disabilities.
Knowledge of positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies.
Paraeducator training or related education is a plus; however, we welcome candidates who are eager to learn.

Position: Elementary Teacher

Job description:
�We are seeking a dedicated Elementary School Teacher to join our team at our Salt Lake City based Charter school. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students.

Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

The Teacher will fulfill the following responsibilities:
Instruction:

* Prepare for and teach all scheduled classes as determined by the daily school schedule and the Director and/or Head of School.
* Participate in Tiered I, II, III interventions
* Implement LEA chosen curriculum based on Utah State Standards
* Submit weekly / daily lesson plans including learning targets

Curriculum:

* Ensure that standards, curriculum, instructional practices, and assessments, are aligned to support the school mission and goals.
* Utilize the adopted curricula for reading, writing, and math as the primary structure for teaching those subjects.

Assessment:

* Regularly track, document, and communicate student performance/achievement.
* Administer diagnostic assessments to identify specific areas of students’ need (i.e. literacy remediation, recovery and intervention.) Designate targeted goals and objectives for student improvement in specified areas of need.
* Follow and implement Assessment expectations according to the Assessment Calendar
* Complete quarterly report cards as determined by the annual school calendar and in accordance with the template used by the school.

Communication:

* Be proactive in communicating with parents individually via meeting, phone, or email.
* Develop and update a mode of communication, as agreed upon by the Director. This could include Remind, CANVAS, email, text, or phone call.
* Support the messaging, vision, and marketing of PHA within the community, country, and world.

Professionalism:

* Reflect upon your performance as a teacher using the teacher evaluation rubric (Utah State Standards).
* Be punctual and diligent about fulfilling yard duty and other time-sensitive obligations.
* Identify and regularly participate in professional development opportunities that promote self-efficacy and the development of one’s skill set.
* Exhibit positivity about the School, Faculty, Staff, Parents and Students.
* Devote a reasonable amount of time to understanding internal processes and procedures. Abide by PHA’s internal procedures including but not limited to finance, transportation, HR, admissions, marketing, fundraising, etc.
* Actively Attend/Support/Plan various activities including: Faculty/Staff Meetings, participate in school-wide events including but not limited to: Heritage Days, Back to School Nights, Parent Action Counsel, Student led conferences, Celebration of Learning, Graduation, Internal and External Professional Development, etc.
* Adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct.
* Devote a reasonable amount of time to completing additional duties as assigned by the Director or designee, including but not limited to leading at least one After School Club and an additional duty (i.e. committee membership, program leadership, etc.)
* Implement PHA’s Character Ed program with integrity.
* Agree to and abide by the expectations outlined in the Pacific Heritage Academy Employee Handbook.

Minimum Qualifications Required to Perform
Essential Job Functions:

* EXISTING Certification / Utah Educators License/APPEL or related REQUIRED
* Teaching experience and/or related professional experience.
* Must be able to present Common Core-based curriculum.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work well with a team and independently.
* Evidence of professional development in educational topics.

Physical Requirements:

* Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers and equipment for children, etc. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Due to amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work.
