We've enjoyed our partnership with Luis Johnson and the rest of the Exchange Visitor Services team at the University of Florida Online for the English proficiency evaluation of their scholars.

We surveyed over 150 ISSS directors, associate directors, and scholar advisors & asked them what the risks are of J-1's arriving with insufficient English proficiency.

The number one risk that directors mentioned was a poor cultural experience, followed by an inability to participate in the program.

Early withdrawal of a visit was the least perceived risk for a J-1 arriving with insufficient English proficiency.

Regardless of the consequences, directors agreed that English proficiency is very important for a J-1's visit.
