Now that the election is over, it is time to heal our divides. Whether on the winning or losing side, it is critical that we build a nation, a society, a community where We All Belong. Let's work together, visit www.weallbelongcampaign.com.

Utah needs your voice! Driven by fear and by politics, the Utah State School Board is voting on January 11th to repeal the "Educational Equity" rule, R277-328. We all need to speak up and let our voices be heard!

Educational Equity:
1. Supports EVERY student! White, black, brown, male, female, non-binary, special needs, neuro-divergent--if your child/student doesn't fit the norm, then educational equity requires the school to adjust teaching and learning to fit the individual needs of the student.
2. Is NOT socialism, is NOT subversive, and IS research-based! When schools and educators learn and apply the principles of educational equity--as required by R277-328, they have the skill to modify the learning based on the unique needs of each and every student.
3. Focuses on the EQUALITY of our schools! Equity aims for more equal education outcomes so that every student of every identity and from whatever background, can succeed in their education and be sufficiently prepared for college, work, and beyond.
4. Is about the STUDENT! Educational equity is not about politics or ideology--it is just good teaching in that it recognizes that every student is UNIQUE in their needs and preparation, and deserves to be supported accordingly.

As a parent, my children have unique identities and individual needs. Educational equity gives me hope and assurance that their school will recognize their uniqueness, serve their needs, and assure that my child will graduate on-time and well-prepared.

You can fight to preserve Educational Equity:
- By signing up to comment in person at the UT USBE Board Meeting, January 11 -- [email protected]
- By submitting written comment to the Utah School Board prior to January 10th -- [email protected]
- Calling and contacting your own Utah State School Board member to express your support for Educational Equity -- https://schools.utah.gov/board.php

Save Educational Equity in Utah by urging the Utah State School Board to preserve R277-328!

Eric Ruiz Bybee: Right-wing attacks on critical race theory threaten equity in schools 05/21/2021

What does it hurt to ban critical race theory? Will equity really impact students? Does it actually make a difference to honor diversity? These are questions I have heard in the debate around banning CRT and DEI in our schools. Eric Bybee answers each of these. Please read on...

Eric Ruiz Bybee: Right-wing attacks on critical race theory threaten equity in schools Eric Ruiz Bybee writes that right-wing attacks on Critical Race Theory threaten equity in Utah schools.

ASKING YOU TO DEFEND DIVERSITY TODAY—PLEASE READ & SIGN NOW!

Unfortunately our Utah Legislature will call themselves into session this week to try to ban “critical race theory” and other efforts at diversity in the classroom. This does not bode well for Utah’s students and is directly against Governor Cox’s appeal of yesterday to take time to think out this issue.

If the legislature bans this, likely all efforts at equity, inclusion and diversity will either be banned or suffer for years to be properly implemented in the classroom. This is an irrational solution to an irrational fear, and will not help our ever diversifying student body.

Please read the petition and sign TONIGHT, then post to your own social media!

WE ARE STRONGER BECAUSE OF OUR DIVERSITY! Our students depend on us to act in their best interest—the time is now as the special session this Wednesday.

Thanks and fight on! Curtis

Opinion | John Lewis: Together, You Can Redeem the Soul of Our Nation 07/30/2020

All honor to John Lewis. Please read his words—these words—written by him to be published on the day of his funeral. He calls us all to the persistent fight for dignity and equality. He calls up his dream of the “Beloved” society, a world in which all of us, each of us, within our diversity experience peace one with another. Rest well, rest In peace—thank you for literally changing the world for the better.

Opinion | John Lewis: Together, You Can Redeem the Soul of Our Nation Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe.
