Across continents, united by a passion for care.

Our students had the incredible opportunity to travel to Rwanda and connect with peers at the University of Rwanda learning from one another, sharing ideas, and building lasting relationships.

This experience went far beyond the classroom. It was about immersing in a new culture, embracing different perspectives, and growing both personally and professionally.

We’re so proud of the way our students showed up, represented our community, and returned home inspired.

In the Making: Charlie Steen, Prelicensure Nursing 🩺

Charlie is heading into her third semester of the Prelicensure Nursing program and is proudly halfway through her journey to becoming a nurse. She chose the CON for its exceptional professors, strong clinical experiences, and thorough preparation for the nursing profession. While nursing school is challenging, Charlie says the encouragement, guidance, and community at the CON make all the difference.

One of her favorite memories has been the amazing opportunities during second-semester clinicals, where rotating through different units helped her learn, grow, and gain confidence in her skill. Backed by community and inspired by hands-on learning, Charlie is truly in the making.

In the state of Utah, rehabilitation and redemption are the driving factors in the juvenile justice system. Empowerment—physical, mental, and emotional—is critical, trauma-informed rehabilitation works hand in hand with accountability, and wellness doesn’t end with physical and mental health or behavioral therapy.

Nurses from the University of Utah College of Nursing staff clinics inside five secure facilities and seven detention centers, providing medical services while also encouraging exercise, education, and nutrition. Meanwhile, psychiatric mental health providers from U of U Health and providers from the U’s School of Dentistry chip in with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and dental care.
