The school garden has slowly become part of our classroom rhythm.

Students check the leaves.
They notice when something droops.
They ask about nutrients and light.
They celebrate when something blooms.

It’s not just about growing food.

It’s about shared responsibility.
Consistent care.
Seeing progress over time.

Small systems.
Daily attention.
Visible impact.

One thing that has made classroom documentation more manageable for me:

I take brief, neutral notes directly on a printed photo seating chart during instruction. Each day has its own color so I can visually track patterns over time.

During prep, I use speech-to-text to transfer those notes into our district intervention system.

It keeps documentation consistent without adding hours to my day.

I shared the code system I use in case it helps someone else. The link is attached.

Watching students and staff light up over the school gardyn has been one of the quiet joys of this year.

Sometimes hope shows up as a plant.
Sometimes it’s a sunflower.

My Gardyn gives me peace of mind.

Even when everything feels heavy, knowing I can put healthy food on the table for my family—without another errand—is grounding.

Small systems matter.

When there’s a lot to get done, basic needs are often the first thing we sacrifice.

Sleep. Water. Food.

But burnout accelerates fast when those are missing. Taking care of yourself isn’t indulgent—it’s maintenance. It's necessary.

Communication is where trust starts to rebuild.

That includes positive updates—not just when something goes wrong—and clear, respectful conversations when concerns come up.

Assuming good intent on all sides doesn’t solve everything, but it’s a powerful place to begin.

01/27/2026

Burnout isn’t just about salary.
It’s about feeling like you’re holding everything by yourself.

It’s the lack of trust.
The breakdown in communication.
The sense that you’re expected to manage complex human situations without backup.

Teaching was never meant to be a solo sport.
Build a community that helps support each other.

One of the hardest lessons in teaching is this:
If it’s not documented, it didn’t happen.

Documentation isn’t about punishment or mistrust. It’s about clarity, consistency, and protecting everyone involved—especially when patterns emerge over time.

It’s not extra work for no reason.
It’s how we make sure support actually sticks.

Some weeks don’t end with a big win or a productivity surge—and that’s okay.

Ending the week steady, with routines intact and energy still in the tank, is a success I’ll take every time.

01/14/2026

Midweek doesn’t always need a big push or a reset.

Sometimes it’s just maintenance—checking in, making small adjustments, and keeping things going. That still counts as progress, even if it doesn’t look exciting.

Last week, I gave myself permission to return gently after winter break.
This week, I’m adding structure back in.

Not a packed schedule.
Just a few anchors that help the day feel steadier.

Structure doesn’t have to mean pressure—it can simply mean support.
