When I was 24, I started dreaming about seeing 9000 bird species in the wild before 50. At 48, in Samoa, I reached 9000 species on eBird with this spectacular Samoan royal parrotfinch, also known as the red-headed parrotfinch.

In our new paper, led by Juan Serratosa, 1704 deaths of 45 large, migratory bird species we tracked show that human-caused deaths are more than natural deaths. Majority of deaths are from electrocution (40.5%), illegal killing (21.7%) & poisoning (16.3%).

Prof. Cole Burton liderliğindeki yeni makalemizde, küresel fotokapan verilerini inceleyerek, Covid-19 pandemisindeki kısıtlamaların dünyadaki 102 noktadaki 163 memeli türünün faaliyetlerini nasıl etkilediğini araştırdık:
Mammal responses to global changes in human activity vary by trophic group and landscape - Nature Ecology & Evolution Analysing camera-trap data of 163 mammal species before and after the onset of COVID-19 lockdowns, the authors show that responses to human activity are dependent on the degree to which the landscape is modified by humans, with carnivores being especially sensitive.
