The Asian American Student Association (AASA) is the largest, most active social and cultural student organization.

Under the direction of Dr. Karen Kwan, AASA began in 1992 with the goal of uniting those interested in Asian American issues on campus and in the community. Over the past 21 years, our organization has grown from a small group of students to arguably the largest, most active student organization based on the University of Utah and in the state. To each of us, AASA is more than just an extracurricular activity -- it is our family and support system away from home!

AASA 2024-25

Our first month of the school year has been a huge success! 🎉 Not only did our Opening Social have the best turnout in recent years, but we also welcomed so many new faces at our first member meeting! We can’t wait to see what AASA has in store for these students this year!

We would like to announce that we have a keynote speaker, Yu Gu, who will be presenting at our High School Conference this Friday, March 5th! Yu Gu is a filmmaker who was raised in Vancouver, Canada, and works in narrative and documentary film. She uses a lyrical approach to explore themes of identity, migration, and artistic freedom. Her feature documentary films Who Is Arthur Chu? and A Woman's Work are currently supported by the Center for Asian-American media, Sundance Institute, and more.

The presentation is from 9:00-9:40am and the workshop is from 9:50-10:20am. All AASA members and faculty are invited to watch the presentation and be a part of the workshop (communities will earn points if you attend). This is an event you won't want to miss! Zoom details will be in our GroupMe and Discord which can be accessed through the link in our bio.
