Congratulations to Dallas Rivas, our 2020 TATA award recipient! The T.A.T.A. stands for Transgender Advocacy TEAM Award. TEAM stands for Transgender Education Awareness Month which is in November.
Just as there are many supporting and active groups invoking real change within the community, there are also individuals who could be called the creme de la creme in terms of their devotion, integrity and dedication to LGBTQ+ advocacy/activism.

The TATA award is an homage given to an individual who has made meaningful contributions to
Salt Lake City’s transgender, gender variant, gender-queer, and gender questioning community throughout the past year. With these contributions creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for said communities, whether through Activism, Advocacy, Outreach or Education.

The TATA award gives special recognition to someone who has done significant work in this field.

This year’s recipient is someone who embodies all of the aforementioned qualities.

We are proud and honored to know Dallas and to see his amazing work for everyone in the transgender community and beyond!

Here are some amazing things people had to say about Dallas Rivas:

Dallas does a lot for the community and is very visible for our Transgender community

Dallas has spent years (decades even) giving to the Trans and greater Q***r community. In that time he has served on many boards, organized countless events and fundraised for organizations supporting the wellbeing of our Trans siblings. Dallas is a leader, a doer and a huge hearted helper. He is in the trenches fighting WITH us. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition!

I know Dallas has sworn up and down that he does NOT want the TATA award. But seriously he works so hard for all these years. Last TDOR when I stopped at the City and County building and he was putting up flags in that nasty cold and windy weather. He has worked so hard, I think he deserves an award, like it or not. 😉

He has served the community for a lot of years and should be recognized

I have always see Dallas Rivas going above and beyond supporting the work and the community.

I truly appreciate the amazing work that all the nominees do and have done , but I have watched Dallas almost a decade going above and beyond. Thank you!

He’s been actively supporting out community since the day I met him.

I have watched them donating their time, even right after a surgery to ensure the event went through.

Dallas, you are an important member of our community, thank you for being visible and so giving! With this award, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your time, energy and heart you’ve given to your community! We appreciate you, Dallas!
