That means future teachers at the U are being prepared with the evidence based skills that children need to become strong readers 🧐

A few more moments from the Ed.D. Higher Education Leadership and Administration Campus Immersion.
Across the multi-day experience, students, faculty, alumni, and higher education leaders came together for conversation, reflection, learning, and connection.
Centered on the theme of Sustainability and Leadership, the immersion created space for participants to engage with big ideas, build community across cohorts, and reflect on what meaningful leadership looks like in higher education today.

The College of Education welcomed higher education leaders from across the country as part of the Ed.D. Higher Education Leadership and Administration Campus Immersion.
Centered on the theme of Sustainability and Leadership, the multi-day experience brought students, faculty, alumni, and leaders together for conversations on leadership, policy, equity, belonging, faculty affairs, and the future of higher education.

Earlier this week, the University of Utah College of Education met with PBS Utah to discuss opportunities for collaboration and our shared commitment to improving youth literacy across the state.
We’re grateful for the chance to connect with partners who believe, as we do, that literacy is foundational to learning, opportunity, and lifelong success. We look forward to exploring ways we can work together to support young learners, families, and educators throughout Utah.

✨ Dean Frankie Santos Laanan received the Marilyn J. Amey Senior Scholar Award from the Council for the Study of Community Colleges.
✨ Dr. Paula Smith was featured in Humans of the U, sharing her work around youth mental health, su***de prevention, and supporting educational leaders.
✨ Dr. David Stroupe was recognized by Wiley Online Library for authoring a top-viewed article in the Journal of Research in Science Teaching, with more than 6,000 views and downloads within 12 months of publication.

The Teacher Recruitment Scholars Banquet (TRS) brought together students, families, district partners, , and the to recognize scholarship recipients beginning their journey toward becoming teachers.
With scholars from Canyons, Granite, Jordan, and Salt Lake City School Districts, this pathway shows the power of collaboration across K–12 and higher education — opening doors, supporting future educators, and strengthening classrooms across Utah.

Future educators on campus!
The College of Education was excited to welcome students from Mana Academy, Granite, Jordan, and Salt Lake District CTE programs, as well as Educators Rising, to campus this year.
During their visits, students explored the University of Utah, connected with faculty and current licensure students, learned about pathways into teacher education, and gained insight into the programs and opportunities available within the College of Education.
These visits reflect our ongoing commitment to community engagement, meaningful partnerships, and supporting the next generation of educators.

The College of Education has joined TRAC, the Talent Ready Apprenticeship Connection, a partnership designed to help students gain hands-on classroom experience while working toward a bachelor’s degree and K–12 teaching license.
In partnership with and , TRAC helps create a more supported pathway into education while addressing Utah’s growing need for qualified educators.
