🌹 In honor of one of Washington’s favorite diversions, we all enjoyed an assortment of 18th century dances, Georgian-era board games, & sweet & savory treats.

🌷 The Heber Valley Railroad will host their Jane Austen Train again this year on Friday, 8 May 2026. The train will leave the station at 7 pm, so they recommend you arrive no later than 6:30 pm.

🌷 Last year's event was a lovely opportunity to enjoy tea service while traveling with your friends through the picturesque Wasatch hinterlands. We hope for the same this year!

🇫🇷 🔱 🇬🇧 Our highest compliments to our Sergeant of Marines for his courage displayed during our anachronistic, duet performance of ‘A British Tar’ at last weekend’s HMS Surprise Commemorative Evening at the Sign of the Long Dog Tavern.

🇬🇧 ⚓️ 🇫🇷 We also extend our gratitude to all those brave enough to join us in the fast-paced chorus! And, ultimately, we thank those mariners of a different era - Sir Patrick Stewart & Brent Spiner - for their unique performance of this tune, which ultimately inspired our own.

🇫🇷 🔱 🇬🇧 Wardroom members & their guests gathered at the Sign of the Long Dog Tavern to celebrate the anniversary of the 20 April 1794 capture of French Ship Unité, & her later commissioning into the British Royal Navy as His Majesty’s Ship Surprise.

🌳 At the Admiral’s request, the Flag Lieutenant related highlights of Surprise’s real-world service, as well as her fictitious adventures created by the pen of author Patrick O’Brian.

🌲 Many were unaware of Surprise’s presence - as the French Ship Unité - at the naval engagement we call the Glorious First of June. Come help us commemorate this aspect of her history at our Glorious First of June Regency Picnic.

🌿 Join us on Saturday, 6 June 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, at Washington Park’s Lower Pavilion for an afternoon Regency era outdoor diversions.

🌹 Hold fast to your taxidermy lamb, conceal your cell phone & ignore the chamber pots: Fabled Fantasy Events will host a Christmas-themed ball to celebrate Shannon Hale's latest addition to the Austenland series: Christmas in Austenland.

🇬🇧 And, wouldn’t it be capital if Austenland’s new proprietress were to make an appearance? One can only hope. 🤩
