Wondering why school registration fees look so different this year? Here’s why!
Thanks to a recent change in Utah law, students now have a guaranteed fee-free path to graduation. Most school-day and course fees for grades 7–12 have been eliminated, making public education more affordable for families across the state.
You may still see fees for extracurricular activities, athletics, clubs, or other optional programs, but those fees are now limited to the actual cost of participation.
One more important change: Salt Lake City School District has transitioned from MySchoolFees to SchoolCash Online for fee payments. If you need to pay athletic, activity, or other remaining school fees, visit the East High website and use the SchoolCash Online links provided there.
For complete information about the new fee structure, fee waivers, and multilingual resources, visit the Salt Lake City School District website.

Parents, the SLCSD is cutting one out of every 3 social work positions in our schools. That means East will have one social worker for over 1500 students.
Here’s what it looks like at East:
• Over 80 student referrals for social work services.
• 33 Spanish-language intakes.
•14 students receiving ongoing therapy in Spanish.
• Many students requiring consistent support for anxiety, crisis, and safety-related concerns.
• This reflects a high level of demand for timely, relationship-based, and culturally responsive care.
Changes to social work staffing directly impact students’ ability to access that support.
Parents, Here are a few ways you can help advocate for more mental health professionals in our schools:
•Attend the school board meeting on May 19th and/or offer public comment.
•Share a brief statement as a parent/community voice about the importance of school-based mental health services.
•Email school board members to advocate for maintaining access to these supports.
If you have had a mental health experience with your child and social workers at East High School, and want to help advocate for more social workers in our schools, please attend the School Board meeting on May 19th. Thank you!
