Utah Sun Devils - ASU Alumni in Utah

The Utah Tillman Honor Run on April 18th brought together 140 runners and over 200 community members for a powerful day of remembrance and connection. The event created an energetic and meaningful atmosphere, uniting participants in support of a shared cause. Thanks to the efforts of Alpha Coffee and the generosity of attendees, the raffle raised over $1,800 in donations for the Tillman Foundation.

Your ASU Utah Chapter has been busy in 2026. One of our key events we do every year is ASU Cares. It's a giving back to the community you serve that is headed up by ASU and gives the chapters freedom to help.

For many years our group has partnered with a local school and some awesome school teachers to have some fun journalism projects, discuss the future and what college or life at ASU can be like and we always celebrate with some tasty food. This year's event our ASU Cares leader Steve Allnatt shared. Big thanks to Steve and ASU!

‘ASU Cares’ for SLC schoolchildren

During the last decade the ASU Alumni Association in Utah has developed a unique relationship with Mountain View Elementary School in Salt Lake City. Each year members join with teacher Jennifer Carver-Hunter’s students to encourage college attendance, describe ASU and the myriad opportunities it offers, as well as celebrate student success and achievement.

Programs have included Introduction to Journalism presentations with KSL sportscaster David James, panel discussions and celebratory pizza parties.

This year alumni assisted Carver-Hunter in a class on electricity as the students made light sabers. “I was going to make one myself,” said alumni Steve Allnatt, “but the fourth-grade curriculum was above my head. I probably should have taken more science classes when I was in Tempe.”

A pizza party and alumni panel discussion tentatively are scheduled in April. Details to follow.
