University of Utah Bands

University of Utah Bands The University of Utah Bands are comprised of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Marching Utes.

Wind Ensemble (UWE):
The Wind Ensemble includes a personnel list of approximately 50 musicians who perform a diverse range of repertoire. This group is dedicated to the performance of quality wind repertoire, regardless of period or disposition of instrumental forces. UWE performs music ranging from works requiring as few as eight players to personnel who form a full wind band. Flexible instrument

ation and player rotation provide members of the ensemble with a variety of responsibilities, challenges, and playing experiences. The Wind Ensemble comprises the most outstanding wind and percussion majors in the School of Music and talented non-music majors who are selected by audition. Symphonic Band (USB):
The Symphonic Band includes anywhere from 60-80 musicians and provides performing opportunities for non-music majors and music majors. The mission of this ensemble is to create maximum enjoyment with limited performance demands while providing an educational experience for undergraduate music majors. Auditions are not required for membership but may be held for chair placements and part assignments.
