Today a U of U fan strode into heaven, carrying his bag.
David Jones passed away after a very short illness with brain cancer. He was a custodian in Chapel Glen and served thousands of residents over his 38 years of employment as a member of the HRE team.
Please extend support to each other during this time as we feel the loss and recognize that as love for David and awe of his dedication to service.
If you are able to support David’s family, they would appreciate the consideration. [This is not expected or a requirement of any sort.]

David has been in our thoughts and in our hearts over the past week. I want to let you know that they were not able to perform surgery due to the size and location of the tumor and they are not able to do chemotherapy due to David’s strength. David will be going back home with hospice care.
If you are able to support David and his family, they would appreciate the consideration. https://gofund.me/29698f9e

David Jones is retiring as a custodian from HRE after almost 39 years of service. We are so thankful to have had David as a colleague and wish him all the best. When you think about the number of students impacted by David's great service over those 39 years, it is staggering. They had a clean, welcoming home because of his dedicated work. We wish you all the best David! Below you will see David in his early days when we were the Office of Residential Living and David last year, next to Patricia Ruiz, receiving the U-Rock from his colleagues.

Ted Lazenby served Housing & Residential Education, then known as the Office of Residential Living, as the Assistant Director of Facilities (1988-2003) as we built Heritage Commons for the Olympics. He helped to vision and guide the construction of the current home for over 2400 students. Our thoughts go out to his family and colleagues, rest easy.
