When you have a THANK YOU THURSDAY nomination as great as the one written for Skyline High School Eagles Chinese Teacher Guijun Zhang, there's not much more to say:

"Some teachers create a classroom where students learn, while others create a classroom where students can't wait to learn. Mrs. Zhang's classroom is a perfect example of the latter. The enthusiasm, creativity, and genuine joy she brings to teaching are evident in every lesson and are reflected in her students' excitement to participate. Teaching a language as complex as Chinese requires exceptional skill, patience, and creativity, and she has mastered the art of making the language both accessible and engaging for her students. She keeps every student actively involved through purposeful, interactive activities while maintaining high expectations and a positive classroom culture. Even without understanding the language being taught, it was easy to recognize the meaningful learning taking place because of the energy, confidence, and smiles throughout the room. Ready for round two? 🥳 DOUBLE THANK YOU THURSDAY continues!

Vista Elementary Custodian Kendall Taylor joined the team at the end of the school year and immediately helped guide the school through the major overhaul, installing new carpet throughout the entire building. Principal Francesca Hall shared, "Kendall consistently prioritizes the well-being of our teachers and students and takes great pride in making Vista a clean, safe, and welcoming place for everyone. We are incredibly grateful to have him on our team!"

And we're grateful to have him as part of our Granite team! Thank you, Kendall!

🎉 It’s our first DOUBLE THANK YOU THURSDAY! 🎉

Which means twice the love, twice the surprise and twice the awesomeness! 💙

We’re starting with the very dedicated (and very surprised!) Lisa Forsyth, office clerk at Taylorsville Elementary.

Even while recovering from surgery, Lisa cheerfully stepped up at the start of the school year to help make sure everything ran smoothly. Principal Jared Broderick says Lisa is “a joy to work with” and that she “makes everyone smile! She’s the best!!!”

We couldn’t agree more. 💙

Thank you, Lisa, for showing up for students, parents and faculty—and for making your school a little brighter! 👏✨

💦👟 “There’s water running all over my classroom!”

When that call came over the walkie at Cottonwood Elementary , custodian Val Westover did what he always does and jumped into action!

What he wasn’t expecting? A surprise visit from the Thank You Thursday crew! 🎉💙

Principal Terri Cooper nominated Mr. Val with a heartfelt two-page nomination, calling him “one of the heartbeats of Cottonwood Elementary” and “the kind of person who makes a school feel like home.” Mr. Val doesn’t just take care of the building, he takes care of the people in it.

Thank you, Val, for making Cottonwood a happier, warmer and more welcoming place every day.
