From the Financial Secretary
The end of the year is approaching quickly and there are a few financial matters pending:
· Are you sure you purchased a yearbook? Over 150 students did not purchase a yearbook. A limited amount of yearbooks are available for purchase if all your student's fees are paid. A list of students who have not purchased a yearbook is posted in the office by student ID #. Last day to buy a yearbook is May 5
· All lunch money will remain in your student's lunch account for the coming school year. Money will transfer with your student to high school. Please request a lunch refund IF your student is NOT attending a school in Granite District next year.
· Some students still owe fines. If you are not sure, please have your student check the fee list posted in the office or check online @ www.wasatchwebstore.com. Unpaid balances carry over from year to year and can prevent your student from participating in year-end activities i.e., honor roll/citizenship party, 8th and 9th grade celebration party, Lagoon day and yearbook signing day. Please remit payment by May 10
You may email me at [email protected] with any questions.
Thank you,

Future 7th Grade Band and Orchestra Students
Hello Parents,
I am looking forward to meeting your wonderful young musicians during the 2017-2018 school year at Wasatch Junior High. I will be holding auditions for incoming 7th grade students wishing to be in concert band or concert orchestra next year. Concert Band and Concert Orchestra students typically have 2-3+ years of experience on their instruments with many taking private lessons as well (but not all). If your student is interested in auditioning, auditions will be held Tuesday April 25-Tuesday May 4th the times listed below. Signups will be available outside of room 112 at Wasatch or you may email me a requested time. ([email protected])
Students should prepare a piece of music that shows their ability and 2 scales of their choice for the audition, there will also be a short sight reading portion.
Please email me if you have any questions or concerns. If you are unable to make any of the dates and times below let me know, thanks.

Dear Wasatch Parents and Students,
SAGE Summative Assessment
Year -end State SAGE Testing has begun. This is an opportunity for your student to show what they have learned during the school year. It is important that they take the tests seriously and do their best. Wasatch teachers use the data to guide future classes options for the students, instructional design for the teachers and helping determine the growth of the students of Wasatch. Research has shown that in order to do well, it is important for students to get enough sleep, and eat a good breakfast. So let's step up and show what you have learned and how you have grown intellectually this school year!
Congratulations
Karen Dodge is the Region 5 PTA Teacher of the Year, and PTA Members Chelle Brain and Katie Olsen, received the PTA Development Award for the creation of the PTSA Student Board. These three Region 5 winners and are going on to the State Level and will be honored in June. Congratulation for your hard work and excellence. They are truly deserving of the award and recognition.

Student Drop Off and Pick up Safety
We understand that traffic for pick up and drop off can be and is a little crazy. But if we all work together we can make it better. Two current issues are: Please do not make any U-turns during school drop off and pickup. Making a U-turn on Viking Rd and Upland Drive during school drop off is dangerous to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Secondly, Parents continue to park on the south side of Upland drive and the east side in front of the school. This requires students to cross in front of cars. Please remind and encourage students to use cross-walks.
Secondary Math 1 Summer Course
Granite School District this summer will offer a Secondary Math 1 Honors course through Connection High School. Students that are eligible for this course are 8th GRADE STUDENTS who are currently in Math 8 Honors. To qualify for this course students must have a highly proficient SAGE score for Math 7 and be a highly motivated student that has excellent grades in their Math 8 Honors course.
This course MUST be completed over the summer if a student is to enroll in Secondary Math 2 Honors as a 9th grader. If a student does not complete the course over the summer, they will need to enroll in Secondary Math 1 Honors their 9th grade year.
Here is the link that the counselors can use to send the referral https://gsdsites.graniteschools.org/Pages/Counselors.aspx
Students do not need to pay tuition since funding of the course is through a grant.

Dear Wasatch Parents and Students,
Over the past couple of weekends, we have had several vehicles go on to our field and do donuts and spinouts. It is tearing up the grass and leaving ruts all over the field. We believe it is high school students. We have notified Unified Police and they are going to make extra patrols around the school. If you or your student have any information will you please let me know. We would just like it to stop and are offering a reward. I will be speaking to the immediate neighbors for their help as well. Thanks for all your support and help in this matter.
