Beta Theta Pi – University of Utah

Beta Theta Pi – University of Utah The Gamma Beta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi at the University of Utah In 1879, Beta Theta Pi was the first college fraternity to publish its constitution.

Since 1998, Beta Theta Pi has been undergoing a revolutionary transformation — back to where it began. With the Men of Principle initiative, Beta Theta Pi gives a new voice to the enduring values of our Fraternity. We offer a membership experience that is unique — calling on men to become leaders and giving them the tools they need to do so. Today, while we continue to guard certain secrets reserved for our members, we invite the widest knowledge of our objects and aspirations.

This past week, our brothers Austin Taylor (University of Utah) and Forest Olsen (Colorado School of Mines) attended the White House to participate in two roundtable discussions.

We’re proud to see our brothers representing their universities, building meaningful connections, and contributing to conversations that help shape the future of mining education and the mining industry. Congratulations to both on this incredible opportunity!

A couple weeks ago, four of our brothers: Nick Langue, Anthony Sanchez, Peter Gardner and, Alexander Wagner, won the 2026 Utah Real Estate Challenge, beating out graduate students from across the state and taking home the $20,000 grand prize.

The Utah Real Estate Challenge is a statewide development competition where teams pitch real estate projects to industry judges, and their winning proposal, East Village Commons, showcased a 202-unit workforce housing development in the University of Utah Research Park. Their innovative model replaces traditional subsidies with a university-funded housing stipend, making market-rate apartments affordable for staff while saving the university an estimated $12.2 million over 10 years by reducing turnover. The development also features on-site daycare and a café to support working families. This achievement exemplifies Beta Theta Pi’s commitment to cultivating the intellect and developing principled leaders who make an impact in their fields.
